Roxanne watched the diagram, listening to what Silver had to say while she crossed her arms and drew her own conclusions. They still matched up. The pattern was still that stupid gods-forsaken trident, wasn't it? That meant they both knew who the likely targets were, and where the likely hideout was. Though, their symbolism was entirely too telling and reeked of them thinking they were far more clever than they were. Roxy's nails dug into her sleeves as she watched, a frown on her face.
"Then either we post people at the right places and hope to either deter them or get lucky, or we go after the middle spot and hope that's it and stop it all once and for all." Roxanne wasn't familiar with Templar procedure. She had always been on the receiving end of the Templars when they were in action mode, rather than investigation. Did they need permission? If so being a Templar was going to drive her crazy.
She let out a sigh. Being all businesslike was no fun at all. She wanted to go back to the bar and get a drink, maybe amuse herself by rejecting the terrible advances of that one guy. Something to let off some steam. But her brain wouldn't let this go for some reason. Why did she care so much about people she didn't know when she'd watched her former allies kill people that crossed them and done nothing?
She wished she had someone to talk to about this, but she wasn't that close to Silver. She had allies, but she was currently alone and she knew it. What else was new, though? Having people close to her had never really been anything real. Nothing more than a temporary distraction that soon forgot about her. "My vote is, we try and wrap this up now. No offense, but I can't be anywhere and I don't trust your average Templar any further than I can throw them."
Seeing them standing in the road, one of the other Templars approached them. “What do you need Lieutenant?” Opening her black case she pulled out a different version of the anti magic cuff, similar to hand cuffs but with a wider band and engraved symbols. She also grabbed a cell phone and pocketed it though not before turning it on silent.
Pulling off Asa’s Templar vest, she handed both the vest and the black case to the waiting Templar. “Take this back to the bar will you? We are going dark for a bit.” Writing something on the paper in her note pad, she tore it and handed it to the Templar. “Take that to the Captain after please.” The note stated the block the house was on as she did not have the exact number, the immediate case details, and the words going dark. It also included the locations of the other three possible targets in the case he decided to evacuate the households. Going dark simply meaning recon and possible execution depending on the situation. He wouldn’t like it but that was how she operated and as the Captain of the entire Templar division that is what lieutenants and sergeants were for- making decisions. The templar took it all, turned heel, and headed off.
She handed two of the cuffs to Roxanne and added to the one she already carried. Taking off her floor length coat, she turned it inside out. The revealing white and red Templar colors hidden and the outside now black. It didn’t completely mask the colors as it had a high collar, but it was marginally less noticeable. “There are three targets and if they stick to the pace of every three days we would be waiting awhile.”
Silver took a moment to explain a bit more about Templars as Roxy sighed and finished with a comment about average Templars. “I’ll explain Templar hierarchy and politics later but in a normal situation you would make a plan and pitch it to the Captain with such a high priority case. Mistakes with serial killers cost lives. For now, you and I will run solo on this… And you should give the average Templar the benefit of the doubt. In a case like this average Templars would be led by a not so average one.”
Turning to Asa she raised her hand palm up and the canine sat. Putting her palm beneath the beast’s nose, Asa inhaled deeply, she gave the command “Stalk.” Asa took off, disappearing.
Glancing at Roxy she was reminded of Roxy’s impatience at the crime scene, “Thanks for waiting. Let’s go.” She said with a wink before walking off.

Roxanne clasped her hand over the cuffs while Silver took care of the rest. She watched silently for a moment before she was addressed again about how things normally went down, and how they were about to do things that weren't exactly by the books in order to try and get this little problem all wrapped up. It brought a bit of a grin to her face. "That's nice of you, but I'm not sure they'd like me to be in charge of other people just yet. What with needing a babysitter and all," she chuckled, brushing her hair out of her face in the breeze.
Asa was told to stalk. Silver thanked Roxanne and winked. Roxanne was beginning to question exactly what Silver playing along with her flirtatious nature meant, and as they took off she entertained the thought of finding out. "So what's up with suddenly doing things my way?" she asked curiously. Her previous agitation melted away now that they were on the way to do something instead of playing inefficient cop/rebellious cop. She had to admit (at least to herself) sometimes she liked Silver's independent spirit. When it wasn't clashing with her own, of course. "It's my good looks, isn't it."

Silver merely smiled as Roxy made the assumption that she was a not so average Templar. Which in her case, Silver would admit she was not average. Though, Silver had not meant putting her in charge of Templars. That made her smile widen. She had only known the woman a few hours and the thought of her in charge of Templars was an amusing one.
Silver was purposely keeping things light between them. For them to work efficiently they needed to not only trust each other, they had to learn to keep their emotions out of their work. With only a few hours getting to know each other, she could tell they would butt heads often. With a high profile case like this and going in solo, Silver decided to take the mature route and not respond to Roxanne’s sharp edges… at least not now.
“I would have went back to the bar, looked over the files for similarities and the locations. Drew up a map, obtained blueprints of the center location, and worked out a plan and played out possible scenarios. I would have then set the plan into motion at dusk as darkness would normally help in not only recon but element of surprise.” Hands in the pockets of her coat, she blew air upwards to blow a few strands of silver hair out of her face. “I had planned on converging on the center location tonight. Your input just fast forwarded the plan. Going dark will be a learning experience. If this is the right location there will be surprise on both sides. It wouldn’t be much of a partnership if I did not listen to my partner.” Granted it was probably the worst first case to bring, not only, to someone new but also to the first day of a partnership.
Probably not what Roxanne wanted to hear but it was the truth. Silver grinned, “If this were a beauty contest, hands down yes… Not being a beauty contest, your good looks are just entertainment for my eyes.” The fact that is was easy to tease Roxanne did not go unnoticed by her own observations. And while her good looks may have gotten her certain privileges in other aspects of her life, Silver's decision would not be one. Silver waited for the other woman’s offended sharp tongue as they continued to walk.

Roxanne ran her fingers partway through her hair before stopping mid run-through, hand still partially covering one eye. She chuckled a laugh that was probably more triumphant than Silver had expected. "Your sudden silence makes me think you expect me to be offended with an answer like that. Lady I'm vain, but I'm not stupid." she dropped her hand, chuckling again. "We'll worry about what my looks should and shouldn't get me later, and for the record it should be quite a lot." she winked. "But for now it's good to hear I'm not so distracting you're just making a bad decision to impress me. I've been known to throw a girl a bone for a lot less than risking your life."
She shrugged, happy to have a moment to relax if nothing else. The conversation, while probably wildly inappropriate for partners, was something Roxanne had always enjoyed to some extent. The teasing, the banter, the mild flirting. Silver probably didn't mean any of it seriously, but at least she was a good sport. "As it stands the fact that it's not night shouldn't make things too much harder," she corrected.
"These people currently think they just got away with another step in their big plan. They're either celebrating or pretending to be normal people again now that it's over. Plus, there's only three, and considering I stood up to a dragon slayer and walked away pretty much unscathed I think I can handle a few cowardly murderers." Okay, so Raven had pretty much flat out overpowered her, but she'd outsmarted him enough to finish her plan at the time. She might be rethinking her criminal past at the moment, but she was still dang proud of that. "I can't imagine them being so dumb as to arouse suspicion by posting a sentry or something, since they obviously want to be an idea and not a face."

Silver just shook her head, laughing good naturedly. She had expected the woman to get offended or have a smart ass retort to anything she had said. Roxanne was confident, Silver would give her that. The ‘quite a lot’ had her shaking her head again. “Ha.” Was her response to Roxanne’s comment of Silver trying to impress her. “Shouldn’t it be the other way around?” She laughed again, “Throw a bone at me, you might want to duck.” She said with a smile and a raised eyebrow.
They were coming up to the block the house resided on. Silver turned down the alley, mentally counting the houses. “When we enter the house and when confronted by a person, announce yourself as Templar. Also make a statement, or statements, along the lines of surrender- your under arrest- please come with me… Two reasons: one, it establishes you are an officer of the law and two, it allows them to give themselves up peacefully.”
The house in question was two stories tall with a peaked roof and a chimney. Blue in color with a white wraparound porch and big bay windows covered by curtains. Side glancing at Roxy, “Try to not kill them. Everyone has the right to a dungeon.” She added with a half smile. She had been reprimanded more than once for stating that to a suspect. In her opinion it sounded a lot better than a right to a fair trial. The trial was her foot up their ass for being asshats.

"Sure, if I were trying to suck up to you maybe," Roxanne shrugged. "But see, you're not the type that sucking up to works on, in my experience." Whether or not that made it sound like the redhead was actually trying was up for interpretation. "Besides, we both know if we weren't on the job you'd change your tune. I haven't forgotten that conversation back at the tavern~" she teased just before Silver got serious.
She told her to remember to always announce that they were Templars and that they had a chance to surrender. Not the Templars so much as the criminals, of course. "Yeah yeah. I've heard it before, believe it or not. Not having a history of being an upstanding citizen tends to lead to Templars knocking at your door." A sly grin crossed her face as she thought about it. "Now I get to do the yelling. It always sounded so fun and official." The grin faltered a little when Silver told her to try not to kill them. "I'll try, but they'd better not take my spot the Captain claims he has reserved for me if I step out of line."
Silver didn’t comment on Roxy’s teasing. Her head was in the case and she doubted Roxanne would forget later either. The house was surrounded by a six foot privacy fence with a locked gate both front and back. Approaching the back gate, eyes on the house in case of movement, she placed a hand on the lock. “Have your eye on a dungeon do you?” There was a quiet click and she slipped through the slim opening.
Cobalt orbs on the house, fluttering like a dragon fly across the house and yard. It was well kept. Slipping her hand inside her jacket, she pulled out three slim five inch needles and held them with her thumb inside her palm concealing them. With her other hand she placed a slim whistle to her lips and blew. The noise could not be heard by humans, it was specially designed to even be hard to hear for those with heightened senses. It was only a moment before Asa launched over the fence to land lightly in the backyard. She pointed to the house and Asa took off, nose to the ground. The canine swept the backyard before going up the steps to the porch. Asa ended at the door, lips of her muzzle lifted in a silent snarl.
“And Bingo was his name-o.” She said as she approached the back door.

"In the family I grew up in, we like to keep things that have our name on them." Roxanne shrugged, more to herself than anyone else. Her arms crossed while she stood there watching Silver work. There was an awkward pause, at least in Roxanne's mind, until about the time the lock popped open. "Not that I actually want it. I'm not my family, after all," she clarified, following the silver-haired woman.
She stepped into the yard, still standing nonchalantly with her arms crossed like that girl accompanying her friend to some place she didn't actually want to be. It wasn't entirely true; She just wasn't too concerned for herself whether they were caught or not. Really, she just figured if they were going to be spotted, they already had been, and if not, well, then this place was as easy to sneak up on as she'd suspected it might be. People who thought they could celebrate their lives between criminal and normal didn't understand. Roxanne was admittedly glad that the only looking over her shoulder she'd be doing was for familiar faces she'd just as happily stab for their betrayal, and not people she'd rather avoid trouble with.
Silver approached the door, with Roxanne and the canine, Asa, waiting at her flanks. The redhead sighed deeply, dropping her arms but looking no more ready than she had before. Once the door was opened though... well, she still didn't change, though she did prepare to actually be a little sneakier in the hopes they might get some juicy and condemning information.
Silver merely raised an eyebrow as Roxanne explained and then retracted her previous statement in her clarification. Family issues, hard core, note made. While the foxy woman followed her, she also made it apparent in her body language that she was not entertained. The deep sigh the woman exhaled had Silver biting her lower lip and pinching the bridge of her nose. One hand over the lock on the back door, she used her magic to unlock the door. Turning the knob, she went to push the door open and heard clicking. Reaction, pure instinct, muscle memory- the three things that often save a person’s life in instant danger. The first had Silver moving the moment the clicking started.
Turning, hands grabbed Roxanne’s coat and she pushed them both off the porch, her magic randomly grabbing metal objects within a hundred feet and melding them together in the air behind Silver. Both smart and stupid at the same time. Smart because it helped deflect the blast of the explosion and blocked shrapnel. Stupid because while the metal shield, in the shape of a door roughly, took the projectiles and the heat, the shock wave pushed the shield into Silver, sending her and Roxanne, roughly to the ground. “Damn it.”

"Hm?" Roxanne glanced down when she heard the clicking noise. See now this was something she hadn't- suddenly, Silver was practically on top of her, though there wasn't much time for turning it into some sort of flirting thing, considering the explosion came right after. Fortunately, they both seemed fine on the outside. Roxanne's pride was hurt a bit though. She hadn't expected them to be crazy enough to blow up half of their own base to stop intruders!
Roxanne grabbed Silver's arm, gently but swiftly shoving her to the side enough that she could get up. "You alright?" she asked Silver. She glanced to the side - Good, Asa had managed to avoid the blast as well somehow. Dogs must have better instincts than her. The newbie Templar's eyebrow twitched as she immediately marched back into the rubble, unconcerned for the heat after the explosion. It was uncomfortable, but the fire part of her magic allowed her to deflect the worst of it.
"Blah blah blah we're the Templars you didn't kill, surrender, or better yet don't because I want to kick the crap out of you for that!" she called out, fists tightening. Who the 'hell' put an explosive on their door?! Were they even still here? Who rigged their own dwelling with explosives like that?! She was wary this time, at least - her pride was hurt and that meant she wasn't going to let them hurt anything else.
There was barely a moment that had passed before she was shoved to the side. Silver propped herself on elbows, going to answer Roxanne’s ‘Are you alright?’ when the woman marched back inside. “Your welcome.” Her tone nonchalant. Silver was fine, she would probably have been pissed off except Roxanne beat her to it and it was more amusing to watch the fiery red head. She supposed she should go in there first or at least catch up. Jumping straight up, she dusted off her clothes. “Search and apprehend.” She gave the command to the dog who, rather than go through the back door following Roxanne, slinked to the side of the house, heading for the front.
Hands reaching behind her at her back and inside her jacket, clasped onto the leather handles of her Manji Sai. Unsheathing them, she approached the door and walked through, jumping over a hole in the floor. “Pretty effective door bell.” A small joke in the face of Roxanne’s anger. Who knew someone would get so angry at attempted destruction?
Coming up behind Roxanne she said, in a not so quiet tone, “Maybe try for a more professional phrase… like ‘This is the Templar Knights. Prepare to surrender or MEET YOUR MAKER.” Did she purposely just lower her voice on the second part? Why yes, yes she did. Silver grinned despite herself, shrugging as Roxanne looked at her.
They entered a long hallway, three doors between them and what she would assume was the living room. As they passed each one, Silver opened the doors- ears attuned for any trickery- and prepared for an attack. Each room was empty. They would come to an empty living room in which opened to an empty kitchen though there was a tea kettle on the stove. Someone was home. Across from the living room was a set of stairs that led up, presumably to the second floor.

"... Close enough." The redhead knew Silver was at least partially joking. The humor didn't miss it, but the situation had struck her the wrong way. Roxanne didn't much care about procedure at a time like this; maybe she should, but she'd always thrived off of improvising; making up her plan of attack while she went. Plans made beforehand were great to give you an idea, but it was plans made after analyzing the twists and turns of a situation that had kept her on her toes for so long. "The only thing I didn't count on..." she muttered to herself much more quietly, thinking back to her own capture. This was two mistakes she'd made that might very well have ended badly twice. Luck alone had saved her. Screw luck, it would go away eventually, and when that day came she wanted to give it the middle finger and show it she was in charge. She was going to have to rethink her disdain for organization and planning.
There was, of course, dust and smoke in the air after the explosion. Roxanne covered her mouth with her jacket and carried on, looking around. In all likelyhood Asa would find anyone here before she did; she wasn't the one with a super nose, after all. As she stepped through, Roxanne paused to look at the picture that had fallen from the wall. There was a family on it. A man, a woman, and a child - a family, one that looked a lot like the budget version of her own. The fact that someone had tried to make a life her at one point, but then been willing to blow it all away, literally... it kind of sickened Roxanne. What was it about family that made them blind to each other in the face of their own problems and ambitions? "Remind me to pay attention to the next guy I have install me a new doorbell," she told Silver as the she caught up.
“Luckily the bar doesn’t have doorbells.” That was what a fist was for after all. Door bells seemed a smidge too fancy, at least for the bar. Silver glanced around cautiously. It was too quiet. But if she trusted her gut, the house was not empty. Entering the living room, she paused. Why was the base of operations here? What was the significance? It was a random house in the middle of the city. These were questions that ran through her mind while she tried to pinpoint what had her pausing.
Continuing into the living room, her head turned towards the tea pot as it began to whistle signaling it had reached the optimum temperature. At about that moment a hidden figure emerged from the top stairway, shadowed kunai knives thrown in Silver’s direction.
Post by Roxanne Lexington on Nov 11, 2015 18:04:41 GMT
The knives were blocked rather quickly by Roxanne, who had been more on alert ever since she was nearly killed by an explosion. She appeared as quickly as the knives, her sword slashing upward to deflect the weapons to the ceiling rather than into the silver-haired woman with the same name. There was a fire in her eyes as well; she wanted revenge for her hurt pride, but more than anything, she was dead set on stopping the idiots who were giving wizards a bad name. If she had a bad name, it would be because of herself and not idiots like these!
"I'll take it you heard our claim at the door then," she told the hidden figure who was at the top of the stairs. "I'll save my breath, you've made your choice. Now I get to do my best not to kill you. You'd do well not to make it harder; swords are sharp." A flash appeared in her left hand as a second, slightly shorter sword appeared. Roxanne was ready to cut loose and get rid of some of the frustration the last week had brought her.
