Roxy took the glass with a mild interest. She'd tried a lot of different things in her time. She'd been drinking long before she was eighteen, though now she was at the legal drinking age in Fiore, at least, so that wouldn't be an issue anymore. This smelled good. Her thing was generally strong over good, but whatever. It was free. Probably. She tasted the drink, pleasantly surprised with the mixture. She could get drunk just because she'd want so much of this stuff! "Not bad."
She made eye contact with Silver, but only passively listened to what was going on in Era. D-class crimes? She'd probably get sent to take care of those. How boring. And to think she'd have probably just ignored those people just yesterday. Ah well. At least Templars got a steady paycheck.
She perked up a bit when Silver gave her the betrayal speech. "Yeah, yeah," she waved off the warning verbally. "My old guild wouldn't let me live being caught down," she figured with a shrug, holding out her arm. "Besides, I didn't have a room over a bar at my last place," she chuckled.

Watching her reaction to the drink, Silver said mildly “Thanks.” Being the owner of a bar and the main bartender of her bar she could make quite a few concoctions. She grew up in a bar and never would she have thought she would own one.
Meanwhile, without attention Asa stood and walked to the fire place before performing a standing jump. Nimbly landing on the widened ledge of the fire place, Asa lay down. Her stillness indicating a canine nap was underway.
Silver reached out and placed two fingers on the metal cuff. She would find out soon enough if she made a mistake. But she was not one to borrow trouble so she let the thought pass. The cuff itself responded to her touch and her magic, opening up with a subtle click. She caught the cuff before it could fall and placed it beneath the bar. “Better?”
Post by Roxanne Lexington on Sept 16, 2015 2:26:21 GMT
Roxanne moved her wrist around, rubbing the area the cuff had been on all day. "Much," she grinned lightly. "Those things do not breath you know..." She brushed her bangs out of her face and took another sip of her drink, polishing it off before standing up. She drank quite a bit, so she had a high enough tolerance she'd barely feel a buzz at most, most likely anyway.
The redhead sighed, stretching before taking off of her jacket, which she teleported to her pocket dimension storage she used so often as a requip wizard. The vest she wore under it only covered the upper part of her torso, and would have covered more if she didn't leave it half unzipped. A small part of her... okay a large part of her wanted to retire to her room she had won, but the rest of her was curious what she could get into as a rookie Templar. She'd done basically nothing for the last week as a captive, save for stand there and look pretty (Lockhart's exact orders).
"Great!" she stretched a bit more, finally feeling free. "Now that all that crap's out of the way, I'm in the mood for entertainment. When do people start coming in here? And how good looking are they?" She leaned against the bar without sitting down this time, crossing her arms. Yeah, hitting on people in bars was a fun pastime. She wondered what Silver would think if she tried. "Or is that inappropriate for an upstanding Templar such as myself, hm?" she was restless. At the moment she wasn't actually trying to cause trouble, though that could change depending on what happened. "Gah being good as well as sober is boring. I haven't done either of those for a week straight in a long time."

Silver actually did know, to an extent. That particular cuff she had designed the prototype. It was meant to automatically fit to whoever’s body it was put on. She had the feeling first hand of having her magic subdued. It was suffocating and distracting. While she did not hesitate to use her magic, she made sure to not have her life rely on it. Grabbing the glass, she put it upside down in the sink. It was a type of hard liquor she had used, the average person would need three glasses to really feel the effects of alcohol. Taking another drink of her own, she watched Roxy use her magic to store her jacket. The vest, if you could call it that, left little to the imagination. Silver just shook saher head, she had known the woman for an hour and the outfit seemed very Roxy.
“Shouldn’t be long now. It varies on the day and time. As for looks, you can be the judge of that.” Silver truly laughed at Roxy’s ‘upstanding Templar such as myself’ comment. “Couple of things. One- this is my bar. Everyone knows the title of Templar has no standing in here. Templars who come in here pushing their imaginary weight get thrown out. It is very simple- here my word is law.” She tossed back the rest of her drink before setting the glass in the sink as well. It wasn’t to say that Templars did not come in the bar, quite the opposite. Those who did frequent knew what happened to those who thought Templars got special treatment or who brought their job with them. She handled her own and lived by a pretty simple motto- show her and her own respect, ya got respect in return. “You wanna flirt, have at it. I wouldn’t call yourself an upstanding Templar just yet.” Silver grinned.
“Ha. Guess it is time you start. When there is not a band playing, the juke box plays music.” [/b] Grabbing a slim remote, she slid it to Roxy. “Feel free to play whatever.” The remote not only switched tracks without having to actually mess with the juke box itself, like the customers would need to, it also controlled volume. A trio of construction workers came in.
“How’s it going Silver?” Asked the taller of the three.
“Fantastic, how’s it going on the project?” She noted how they eyed Roxy, two of three giving a curious glance before moving on.
“Pain in the ass, per usual.” He joked.
Laughing, Silver watched as they went to sit at their normal table. She grabbed three beers, flicking the tops off with a finger. One of them turned and began to approach the bar before sidling up next to Roxy. Silver gave an amused exhale before placing a beer before him and taking the other two to the table.

Apparently Roxy wasn't an upstanding Templar just yet, despite her good behavior."Hey! I haven't done a single thing wrong since I got here," she insisted. Well, except maybe butting heads with her partner before they'd even gotten to know each other. But did that really count? Nah. She'd been asking for it anyway in Roxy's eyes. She'd been rather nice letting the whole thing go when Asa intervened.
Roxanne didn't even glance at the door as it opened. She'd just turned on some jazz-style music and was pondering changing the tune when the trio of men walked in. If anything, she suddenly looked even more bored. She knew what was coming. She liked how she dressed, or she wouldn't do it. Unfortunately, it came with a lot of attention from guys like the one that had slid next to her.
He opened his mouth to greet her, but she cut him off as she leaned on the arm further away from him. "I don't date men," she cut him off, a slight twitch to her eyebrow. He could stay there if he wanted. She was stubborn enough to put up with it. She just wasn't in the mood to lead him on for a free drink at the moment. Besides, she was short on allies after this whole fiasco and it seemed like a bad idea to ostracize Silver through these regulars. At least before he pressed his luck. "So far, I'm only impressed by one," she told Silver vaguely, referring to the looks of the people in the room.

“Yet… Being the key word and it has been what? A few hours?” Silver joked. Silver was not an upstanding Templar. At least she did not consider herself one. What made an outstanding Templar anyways? It is not that Silver did not care; it was that while she was competitive she was also rather independent. So it made following some rules that she thought were… stupid a bit hard. Like proper respect for higher ranks, even if that person was wrong. It was a wonder she even got promoted. Though, she attributed that to Asa.
The man next to Roxy merely gained a look of calculation at her sudden dismissal. Though Silver’s back was facing the two at the bar as she put beers on the table in front of the other two men, she called out “Ravi…” Having been about to say something to Roxy, he backed off and sighed. “I could have changed her mind.”
Turning and walking back to the bar she replied, “Like that horse?” The other two guffawed as Ravi grimaced. “I blame that on the drink you made.” Silver mhmmed him while grinning before telling Roxy Don’t take it personal he hits on anything with legs…” That brought another burst of laughter from the table as Ravi sat down with them.
Her last comment had sapphire orbs regarding the red head curiously. Debating on if she should take the bait, her thoughts were interrupted by a message runner bursting through the door. “That makes two of us.” She spoke quietly and just as vaguely before pushing off the bar where she had been leaning near Roxy. Meeting the runner midway, she took the missive she held. “Anything else?” She asked the sweaty youth. “Your presence is required immediately.” Handing the runner a jewel, Silver dismissed her and walked back while reading it.
Lieutenant Steele, Location: 402 Grand Ave Status: 2 DOAs, similar set up to that of the Purist murders Presence requested immediately.
Folding it and putting it in her pocket, she focused on Roxy her expression thoughtful and cautious. A quiet whistle was followed by a thud. Asa pushed her head under Silver’s arm. “Find Kodial, bring him here.” She told the canine while still focused on Roxy. “First day and you will get your feet wet, don’t suppose you have a uniform yet?” Protocol. As much as she disliked it, it did have its uses at times. Pushing a panel in the wall behind the bar, she extracted her collard full length jacket with Templar insignia. She also pulled out a pack, another article of clothing, and a briefcase of sorts.

"And just what piece of pick-up line gold did you have that would change my entire outlook on dating men?" Roxy asked in an amused voice. She didn't have high expectations for anything except a laugh. The men laughing at the stubborn one beside her kind of raised Roxy's spirits a bit more. It was obvious they were around a lot, but then she'd gathered that from Silver's initial greeting as well. She opened her half closed eyes a bit wider though, when Silver seemed to return the vague comment, though she didn't have a lot of time to worry about it. A messenger popped in, looking as if she was in quite the hurry. Something Templar related then? It didn't feel like there was anything bar-related Silver had been waiting on.
Her suspicions were confirmed when she was told she'd see action her first day. "Oh, good. I hate having dry boots for too long," she stated semi-sarcastically as she stood up. Silver asked if she had a uniform yet, which just caused Roxanne to laugh. Yeah, she had the uniform most women were too embarrassed to be caught dead in. Considering what she was wearing now, it was probably actually an improvement in some people's eyes.
With a small gesture, Roxanne's requip magic replaced her current clothing with the "new" female Templar uniform - a jacket that went down to about her waist, a matching short skirt, and stockings along with the normal Templar footwear. Roxy's hairstyle even changed to that which she'd put it in when she'd shown Lockhart the uniform choice before (Which was essentially a neat ponytail that managed to make her look rather business-like.)
She glanced back, a knowing grin on her face as she looked to the man who hadn't been so shy about oggling her before. "Yeah I know. I can really pull the look off, right?" she winked and gave the one at the bar that she'd been standing by a thumbs up. "Surprised me too." The newly uniformed woman looked to Silver. "So what are we waiting for then?"

“It’s not my words that will change your outlook on dating men.” His tone serious, dark eyes on the red head. Shaking her head, Silver merely muttered to herself “This is actually happening right now…” Ravi continued as he held his hand out to her, “You know what they say about men with big…” Silver did not let him finish and instead finished for him. “Egos? Why yes, put a mirror in front of them and watch as they hit on themselves for hours.” Ravi groaned. The other two laughed again. Poor Ravi.
Silver glanced at Roxy while setting stuff down, “Smart-ass” she replied to the dry boots comment. The immediate change into her uniform caught Silver by surprise. She would have to get used to her requip magic. The uniform… she started laughing while shaking her head. “Of course Captain Lockhart gave you that uniform. I can imagine his response when you put that on.”
Reaching over, she used a finger to push Ravi’s jaw up. At that moment Asa pushed through the door, followed by a slim man with ruffled dirty blond hair. Seeing him about to speak, Silver cut him off, “Your working tonight. Tell Sammy she works after you.” With a sigh, he walked behind the bar. It was not a second later a grin appeared on his face as he took in the entire scene. Nudging Ravi, he whispered something to him that had the man finally glancing away from Roxy.
Asa had stopped next to Silver, who dropped to a knee and put a vest, with the Templar insignia on both sides, on the tall canine. After that, she placed a pack on the beast as well. Standing, case in hand, she walked past Roxy. “Somehow I doubt you were surprised by the outfit itself and more by how good Templar itself looks on you. “ Her tone colored amused with a raised eyebrow as she passed the woman and strode out the door, raising a hand to the various goodbyes. “We were waiting for Asa.” The dog in question was already out the door.

"He gave me a choice between uniforms, actually," Roxy admitted. She was aware Silver probably wouldn't have made the same choice. It was part of the fun. "I don't think he took into account my general lack of modesty in the first place. He was basically speechless." She glanced at Ravi. "Shut up, you," she told him halfheartedly, noticing his glance shift towards her very briefly when she reminded him verbally of her clothing choice. "And for the record I don't care about big egos or anything else, so you'll have to find something better than that." It might be fun in the future to see what else he'd try, if only for the laughs.
Silver spent that time telling others they would be taking her shifts while she did her real job, returning to Roxy once that was finished. Apparently she thought Roxy had decided she looked good as a Templar more than as a woman in a skimpy uniform. She grinned in return as she followed Silver and Asa out the door. "Yeah I'm all about the doing good and serving the people," she responded, no shortage in sarcasm there. In all honesty, part of her had been wondering that since the offer was given in the first place.
It had been a long time since she'd seen her old job as anything more than the life she'd chosen for herself. This was... something new. Something she hadn't actually had time to decide about yet. She admitted Albel, despite her antagonizing and Silver despite them both being hard-headed had both been rather fair to an ex criminal the entire time, and that for once her mind was free of the usual small amount of guilt. "Nah I'm far too shallow for that. It's totally the mini skirt. I couldn't stop staring at myself in the mirror when I put it on. Seemed my ego needed fed a bit after the whole betrayal thing. I have to hand it to the Captain. He came up with the perfect mix of cute and sexy."
Post by Silver Steele on Sept 25, 2015 15:44:09 GMT
Silver chuckled lightly at Roxy’s lack of modesty comment. She bet he was speechless. Somewhere between the speechless and when Roxy walked through her door, the red haired woman must have said something to irritate him if she were wearing the antimagic cuff.
Ravi muttered with a bit of self indignation. “I wasn’t talking about big egos…”
A slight smirk as she side glanced at her companion and her sarcasm. “I think you will end up taking pride in the uniform you wear and not just because you look hot in it.” If Silver did her job right, Roxy would be one of the best Templars in the organization. If only because she would get the job done right and not just be a follower. She took it as a challenge so the weight of it did not hold her down as much. Silver had never trained anyone nor had a partner. It was going to be a day of firsts. Her last comment had Silver laughing. “I’ll leave the cute and sexy to you… And don’t tell him what you think of the outfit… He will probably insist every one wear it.” Though he tried with ever female Templar, he had yet to truly push the outfit… Or limit the selection.
Pausing outside the door, Silver’s body language indicated her seriousness as she fully faced Roxanne. Asa sat promptly at Silver’s side. “I know you know this. I also know it does not exactly need to be said but I will say it anyways. We are partners. That means I have your back, you have mine… It involves trust. Something that is usually gained over time but we don’t have that luxury. Trust that any time we are on duty not only I, but Asa as well, will put our life on the line for you when the situation arises.” Silver needed to make it very clear of what she expected. All it would take is a lack of trust, of questioning whether Roxanne had her back for the partnership to collapse in of itself. The woman's response would give her an idea of what to expect in the coming months.
Post by Roxanne Lexington on Sept 25, 2015 20:08:32 GMT
"See I don't see the problem with this..." Roxanne countered when she was warned Albel might make everyone wear the uniform - or at least all the women. Roxanne didn't care to see men in miniskirts. Somehow she doubted Albel did either. Roxanne came to a sudden halt when Silver spun around, her expression completely serious. Her own expression was one of almost annoyed curiosity - she didn't much care to have to come to sudden halts for no reason.
The reason was revealed only a moment later though, so it was probably a good thing she didn't give into the initial temptation to get onto Silver about it. She got this speech about being partners, about trust. The word trust caused her hand to subconciously move to the wrist the band stopping her magic use had been on before. Lockhart himself had indicated that if she couldn't be trusted, she'd be going to jail.
As much as she'd acted like that was her reason for shaping up, the truth was she didn't care. Her parents could get her out of any situation by throwing millions of Jewels at it and probably barely dent their own bank accounts. She knew they would to - if only to finally have their daughter back so she wouldn't screw up their reputation anymore.
Roxanne stood there impassively, looking as if nothing the woman in front of her did could possibly surprise or intimidate her. She spoke up after a second though. "Look we're going to have to get one thing straight," she put up a finger to emphasize the point, shoving it in Silver's face, though keeping it just far enough away that the logical response would, at most, be to move back very slightly. "I said I like the uniform. Guess what I won't get to keep if I'm not considered trustworthy?" she reminded the girl, dropping her finger and placing her hands on her hips as she sighed slightly dismissively. "Besides, you and Asa are in safe hands. Contrary to what you people like to assume of criminals, I'm not the type to like seeing people in my care hurt."
Post by Silver Steele on Sept 25, 2015 21:15:49 GMT
Silver did not have a certain expectation in regards to Roxanne’s reaction to her speech though her general assumption consisted of indifference, a shrug. The pointed finger in her face, had her gaze narrowing. Looking first at the finger, which gave her an almost cross eyed appearance then at it’s owner, her expression one of calculated irritation. She stayed quiet, listening to the other woman’s dismissal of her speech and outright disrespect. Seriously tempted to bite Roxy’s finger or grab her wrist in a show of speed and skill in hand to hand combat, she was floored by the fact that there was a crime scene they needed to get to. Luckily for Roxy or for Silver, the woman dropped the finger- she did not step back but merely glared- before she finished speaking.
“Shove your finger in my face again and trust that one of two things will happen, none of which will be without pain. Not a threat, a promise.” Honesty, and she let her displeasure show. “You lack decent respect.” Simple and straight to the point. She could tell Roxy was not one for long speeches. Fine.
She let go of the fact that Roxy's trust was based on Roxy’s liking of an article of clothing. Silver couldn’t go there right now. The ‘you people’ had her making a speech as she could not help herself. “I can assure you I am not in your category of ‘you people.’ You could be Captain Lockhart himself and I would still give the same trust speech had I not worked with him before. The only time I will care about your past is when it affects my present. Something the Captain probably considered when placing you with me.” Her place was essentially boarding for kids with bad backgrounds. He could have easily placed her with someone who would have held her darker background against her. She was sure to get much dislike and outright suspicion coming from a dark guild. “I am trusting that when push comes to shove you will be able to kill someone for Asa and I, as we would for you, without hesitation.”
So much for not butting heads again. Silver turned around and began walking again.
Post by Roxanne Lexington on Sept 25, 2015 21:45:26 GMT
"I'd like to see you try, but that would just get in the way of what we're supposed to be doing," Roxanne glared back. She'd backed down with Lockhart because she'd actually slipped up. With Silver there had been no such arrangements. "Look, I'm not who you expect in a recruit, I get that, but I'm also not what you expect in a recruit period. I know your type. You give the respect people deserve, right?" Roxanne dropped both of her arms. "So do I. I have your back in a heartbeat, but if you want me to call you Ma'am and salute you, earn it. I'm not your dog." Roxanne blinked and looked at Asa. Whoops. "No offense."
She huffed and followed Silver, smoothing out a few stray strands of hair as the pair made their way. They made it to a house, the entrance guarded by a pair of newbie Templars who weren't qualified to handle the big stuff. Apparently Roxanne was. At least she looked professional enough, attitude included, by the time they made it. Plus, the timing meant Silver had little time to rebuff her unless she wanted to do it in front of others. That was also a plus. She was already tired of the Templar bullshit and their 'respect me before I earn it' attitudes. Lockhart literally had people chasing chickens for him. How was that any better?
The pair of Templars let Roxanne in without question. Silver could question people; she wanted to see what was going on. There was a line of tape sectioning off the murder area going across the entrance to the room with the bodies. Roxanne simply stepped underneath, her gaze passive at best. She'd seen worse, unfortunately. The new Templar crouched down, moving easily with the skirt as if its impracticality didn't hinder her at all. "Now then... what have we got here?"
Post by Silver Steele on Sept 29, 2015 22:30:15 GMT
Shaking her head she continued walking. As Roxanne continued to talk, Silver remained silent. There was no time to settle this latest argument. The words ‘Ma’am’ and ‘Salute you’ and ‘dog’ stuck out. It seemed Roxanne took decent respect and Templar together. Trust, she did not want to be called Ma’am or be saluted, especially by her partner. She was going to have to work hard at this communication thing if their partnership was going to work. Hell, if she wanted to not have migraines every day. It was a tad bit amusing when the other woman replied ‘No offense’ to her dog. The dog in question continued to walk, ignoring the tenseness between the humans.
Pushing aside whatever confusion, anger, and irritation she currently felt, her expression cleared taking on a seriousness reserved strictly for Templar business. Single story house, plain in appearance. What was not plain was the two officers in front of the entrance, one on either side. They were laughing until Roxanne and Silver approached. Their expressions varied as they set eyes upon one and than the other. Both saluted as they walked past and entered. Silver followed Roxanne, deciding to take a look at the crime scene before questioning the outside Templars. Asa trotted past as well, nose snuffling a mile a minute as her muzzle swept the ground, walls, and air.
The bodies, two in question, were in the main bedroom. Male and female, safe to assume a couple. The man was in the bed. Blood pooled around his upper torso, the cause a deep, ragged gash in the left side of his chest. The woman was crumpled on the floor before a set of double doors that led to the backyard. A spray of blood across the glass, the rest pooled on the floor. Though she was face first into the carpet, the back of her nightgown had a gash in it on the left side indicating a similar wound as the man. A older woman entered the bedroom, dark brown hair in a bun, steely eyes focusing on Roxanne before centering on Silver. Asa walked slowly around the room, nose all business.
“Lieutenant Steele.”
“Sergeant. Details?” Sapphire orbs glanced at the woman, nodding before her gaze flitted around the room taking in details.
“Mr and Mrs. Yates. A friend of Mrs. Yates came calling when Mrs. Yates did not show up for an engagement. Found the bodies. A general sweep of the neighborhood yielded nothing as of yet. The examiner should be here shortly.”
Nodding without looking at the woman, Silver replied “Send in the two num nuts guarding the door.” The woman pursed her lips. When the brunette made no move, Silver glanced up and raised an eyebrow questioningly, pausing in writing notes in the black book she had pulled out. Without a word the woman turned around, though it was undiscernible you could hear her grumble as she walked down the hallway.
A moment later, boots stomped down the hallway and two bodies filled the doorway. One opened her mouth to speak, Silver raised up a finger in silence. Closing her mouth, they stood at attention. “So you find this amusing?” Gaze turned to the notebook as she continued writing. They both spoke up, “No, Lieutenant.”
A moment of silence. “Good, because I could have sworn when I approached the house this was not the scene of a murder investigation…” It was than that Silver looked up and gave them her full attention, much to their dislike. “Given the marks, I am quite sure this is another Purist hit… Do either of you have someone close who has no magic? Yes? Picture them laying here. Because all non magic citizens are at risk and your family could be next.” The last came out as a growl. “Back to your stations.” They turned, almost running into each other as they went back to guarding the entrance. Asa disappeared out the doorway, continuing her scent search while Silver knelt and opened the black case she carried there.

Roxanne remained unmoved by either the speech or the sight. Tragedy was nothing new to her... at least not in the sense of dead bodies. To be honest, she kind of hated that she felt nothing; she'd been around too many others willing to kill; people who had killed those who were probably decent people who didn't know better than to cross a member of the Red Blades. Her original partner had been one of them. At times he'd killed just so he could lecture her about being willing to do whatever it took, usually calling her 'princess' or some other stupid name referring to her noble blood.
Her mind returned to the present as Silver finished her lecture. "Purists? As in... people trying to get rid of the non magical people?" Her eyes scanned the two in the house; there was no indication they'd even had a chance to bring magic to bear. That meant whomever it was had done their research first. IT wasn't like one could tell a wizard just by looking at them... not without your own special kind of magic at least. Roxanne had yet to see anyone with "mage vision."
The redhead stood up, remaining silent for the moment, though a grin did spread across her face after she looked away from the bodies. "Goodie. Someone I can vent all this frustration on." she cracked her knuckles before glancing back at Silver. "So, what's the scoop on these purist guys? Are all their attacks this cowardly? They weren't even brave enough to leave some message or calling card."
