The whip had been a sneaky maneuver, wrapping around her ankle and everything. "Damnit Atrum, I use those," she cursed as she brought an ice dagger down to cut the fire whip just as the explosion rocked the area. She was quick at shielding, bringing what was a barely passable shield in time to stop most of the explosion. It shattered, leaving the smoke and the obvious sound of Atrum bringing his foot down upon her. She raised both hands, catching his foot with a grunt. "You wanna play at this game?" She grinned through the struggle that was holding onto Atrum's leg. "I can hold on too." Ice erupted from her hands, spreading around Atrum's leg and down to the ground, trapping it temporarily in place.
She moved out from under him, ignoring her dropped blade for the moment to move further away from Atrum. His advantage was close range. Hers was that she had stronger magic. She would use that. She used her wind magic to flash step backwards, creating a set of kusarigamas out of super hardened ice. She tossed them at Atrum, intending to both slice into him and entangle him at once. If he attempted to use them against her she could easily shatter them into nothing more than aetheric ice particles.
Atrum's foot was stopped and Kotone retreated again, and now the chained scythe weapons where flying towards him at great speed. He gave a grimaced smile as he cast the Trophaeum around himself disintegrating the ice weapons before they reached him, that was close and he was starting to run out of steam already. Was he this far behind or had his wounds not fully healed? he didn't know or care at the moment.. Hells he didn't want to resort to that so quickly, it was such a situational attack, and which version to use different version held different effects on one's spells. Screw it no holding back he'd just pump all of his power into this next attack. Well not next attack, he would need a starter first. A distraction while he summoned his power for his real attack. Wow the worse it got, the more he loved it.
"Day, boom, stain!" Atrum called out flames growing from his body, thunder cracking and a bolt of flame smashing into the giant empowering him. "Spirits of the Earth and Air, honor our clans ancient pact, Propel us to our destiny!" The flames exploded outwards from his body. "I invoke, Megdash. Now try your best not to blink." Atrum said grinning as his warpath empowered him, making him faster and stronger. He only had one moment of surprise to get a set up. Incantations were powerful but they had a high cost to just use. Including how open the left one when using them. This one was short, he tended to cut most of them down to the bare minimum in order to make them combat worthy, hopefully Kotone wouldn't realize she could literally just copy his incantation to empower her own spells. When he learned them he was told anyone could use them and they had mostly fallen into obscurity or outright mockery, Atrum agreed with the latter despite the added power they afforded a lot of them were, ridiculous to say the least.(But I digress)
Atrum appeared in front of Kotone showing off a speed he only had in the few moments that his Warpath Spell affording him snapping his fingers and his dancing flames spell sparking to life extremely bright He had to be quick she was going to recover quickly He quickly placed his palms at Kotone's stomach. mar's crash his stun punch this was definitely his weirdest use of it yet, open palm, one inch punch. The open palms to spread the attack over as much surface area as possible and the close distance to make dodging harder. he was really draining his own magic power needed to make sure he had enough for the big one after that no more magic for a while... This could be bad if he failed, but he had hope, this fight was going into his personal Trophaeum whether he won or lost. He couldn't get enough of it. Broken bones, muscle pain, possible frostbite, adrenaline rushing through his veins his magic power flowing out of him as he tried his best to come up with new ways to combat Kotone. He was so damned happy right now! He didn't even mind that he was relying on blazing incantations right now.

Kotone raised an eyebrow as Atrum started chanting, causing his own magic to flare up in power as he did so. Was that... was he really using an incantation of some sort? Atrum knew incantations?! Oh, right, she should probably pay attention to his sudden speed. As Atrum began to move, her dragon slayer senses allowed her to easily keep track of him. The chanting made him fast, but she was pretty sure she was still at least as fast as him. She had her own technique to try. With a gesture and a couple of handsigns of her own, a shroud of icy fog burst from her, like a cloud of ninja smoke.
The fog itself was pushed away as Atrum's mars crash exploded into Kotone's stomach - or what had appeared to be her; the sudden copy melted in a heartbeat with his empowered spell. Making a copy like that had used an insane amount of magic; she was going to have to refine the technique. Beads of sweat were apparent on her forehead as she stepped from the fog with her own counter attack; a cold-empowered club meant to throw Atrum off of his feet.
"Geh heh," There were plenty of ways to fight, some people say combat like chess, Atrum prefered to view it as s form of expression, when two people fought the flow of battle was their identities clashing. In this instant Atrum knew that Kotone had a counter attack ready, he counted on it. He retreated as soon as his attacks connected and started the next incantation. "Oh obscure flames of the universe, I am calling you..." He bagan watching as his attack hit...a Kotone clone? That wasn't good. She was too fast, there was going to be a problem he might have to cut this short. "Awaken divine flames, awaken corrupt flames, this is the time to burn." He continued his eye's narrowing as Kotone rushed out from the fog to strike him down. Well shit that was a club, this was gonna suck, better brace himself. "Flames of the universe bend to the life mother's will- guh!" Atrum grunted damn that hurt but he would, not, fall. The giant smirked, it wasn't a good idea to get so close.
"Burn and let your power rage through me. I invoke, Nuada Airgetlám." He growled this was the last bit of his magic. If kotone could still fight after this he was kinda screwed. "Hellfire Barrage." Normally he would've had to fire off this spell by hand. Normally he would hit only his target with this spell, and normally he wouldn't be doing something that most would consider stupidly suicidal. his warpath spell canceled out the magic power he was using to sustain it being drained away for the Hellfire Barrage. Suddenly dozens of orbs made of Atrum's magical power floated around both him and Kotone, Kotone was his target, she was fast but he doubted she was fast enough to dodge this one. One top of that she was surrounded. "This is going to hurt." He said panting as the orbs turned into bolts of flame and speared towards them. The longer Atrum saw this plan in action the more idiotic he felt, he had no defense spells, none, nada, zilch. He also had lost his warpath spell which made him far more maneuverable he might've been able to reduce the damage, dealt to him by dodging a few. if only his pool of magic power was larger. Let me reiterate.

Of course Atrum wasn't going to fall down from a smack like that. The dragon slayer was pretty sure that like, anyone else would have at least stumbled a few more steps. Even her. She frowned as the ice shattered over Atrum and he only changed tactics. Orbs appeared around them; powerful orbs, orbs there was no way she was going to be able to move completely out of the way of. Her ice dome ability would only trap the two of them in with the orbs; they were too close for anything spectacularly useful in the defense department.
But that wasn't going to stop her from trying. A mixture of wind and ice blew up around her - a fast answer with far less stopping power than she would have preferred for a spell like this. The spell's heat slammed against her shield. It eventually cracked, and Kotone felt the white hot magical power that Atrum shot at the both of them. He would be feeling this too. She let out a cry of pain as the magic tore through her jacket and burned her sides and back; she shielded her face, but her arms were burned too.
Smoke came off of the two of them as the spell finished; Kotone's actual clothes were probably ruined, but her jacket had regenerative abilities because of situations like this, and her burned skin was quickly recovered. She stumbled a bit, but remained standing. "You jerk, I liked this shirt," she told him through gritted teeth. "And now I'm going to have to pay a visit to the old lady." There was a woman in town who was a good healer; she could cure the burns with a little time. Kotone had had to use her in the past.
The pure cold energy created by her dragon roar materialized in Kotone's hand, which she placed directly at Atrum's face. "Now, I still have some magic to spare. Care to keep going?" she asked, more than willing to beat the crap out of him for the painful burns.
Okay damage report! Muscle soreness, burns and frost bite in several areas. Magic drain looks like there was still something in the tank, but using much more would be a bit dangerous. several ribs felt cracked, not broken he'd be fine. He could still fight, for a bit longer. The giant opened his eyes looking around, he was prone. The concussive force was a bit stronger than he expected he pushed himself to he feet, only making it to his knees before he realized she had appraoched him. The giant grinned at Kotone she managed to shield herself. Clever. Dragon slayers were so much stronger than normal opponents it was always worth fighting them. Atrum wasn't the best fighter in his clan, that honor went to his mother. He could claim that he never lost the same fight twice. if this was four years ago... it'd be the same fight. This was something new, Kotone was stronger now faster probably smarter as well.
"I am still good, had worse surprisingly enough." He breathed out his mind ignoring the pain he was in. He didn't have too much magical power left, however, he was still confident he could keep going. He'll just have to ration it. He stared into the dragon roar she had aimed at his face and grinned, he ducked his head to the side and lunged forwards gripping the arm meant for his face. Kotone was a pretty good fighter, she wasn't likely to underestimate him right? Still she kept getting close to him, She was a close combatant, pretty good when push comes to shove. The giant couldn't just lift her up and toss her, no trying to slam her either, she had counters for both of those and he hadn't a response to them yet. Instead he chose to lock his grip and slam his left palm into her side. There was an excess of adrenaline in his system and he really was moving before he was thinking. "How about we continue then just a bit longer?" He requested as his brain caught back up to his body. He had a bit left in his tank, should be a bit longer before he was out of gas.

Seriously? Kotone wasn't stupid enough to try and beat him without the use of her own magic anymore, and her reserves were, in fact, less than half drained. She'd exaggerated how tired she was, and the only damage worth speaking of was a few burns now hidden by the repaired jacket. She raised an eyebrow as Atrum attempted to punch her straight in the side. She still had her other hand free, as well as both legs.
The dragon slayer raised her other hand, stopping the man's swing with a palm and a pained grunt as she felt the adrenaline-fueled impact cause more pain than she would have liked in her wrist. As this happened, she formed yet another ice power with her considerable magic in the very hand he was holding, as well as the hand that was now holding his. "You don't know when to give up. I like that," she grinned, the ice suddenly expanding so that the the grip was now frozen to her arm.
"But see, I'm stronger than you remember and you have work to do before we meet again." Her eyes glowed with arcane energy once more and it became more than a little obvious what she was up to, but there was likely no stopping it without a considerable amount of heat. Not when he was literally stuck to her until one of them broke the ice bonds. "Ice Dragon Roar!"
"Geh heh." Atrum chuckled, kotone was pretty strong. Stronger than he remembered. Maybe he was more tired than he thought. He couldn't feel his arms and the dragon roar was pretty stunning. Strength was disappearing, yeah this was definitely the last counter attack he could make so this was the difference of four years. Atrum struggled to his feet pushing his trapped hands up as he made it to his feet. "Yeah enough complaining about what I can not change, Win or lose I had a lot fun fighting you again." He growled focusing what remained of his magic into his left hand.
Atrum was always strong, had to be when your homeland only really wanted you dead. In the past his strength had been more than a match for the Dragon slayers he came up against. He had been proud of that, dragons were some of the strongest creatures around. Having your own strength be a match for a practitioner of Dragon slaying magic was surely a compliment to be sure. His strength was not to be underestimated, he may have no have gotten stronger in those four years but he certainly wasn't weak to begin with.
"You really got a lot stronger, so this one's for you, keep getting stronger, cause I plan on catching up!" Atrum growled forcing his arms together, close to Kotone's face. The remaining magic left he had to spare flared up into a spell. Furea's Hand. He needed more heat to free his hand than the mar's crash could provide. In fact he wasn't sure that he had enough power left to do the job here. Whelp no turning back, the giant's clenched down onto Kotone's hand causing the spell to detonate. So how tough was this ice anyways?

Kotone's ice was strong. Very strong. In fact, it took everything even Atrum had to actually break through the ice. She had to rip her grip out of his and jump back to avoid her hands being badly burned, and her jacket itself momentarily caught fire above where the ice stopped, though the sheer power of her wind put it out before it did any real damage to her.
"Geeze, you realize *I'm* trying not to cause you permanent damage, right?" she half joked, knowing the fight was pretty much over. She still had some minor burns on her hands, saved only by the ice she'd encased the pair of them in. She chuckled, stretching out the less burned hand towards him and giving him a grin. "Good match. I'll keep practicing, but with a family I'm taking care of I'm sure you'll pass me in no time." she believed it too. Part of her hated the idea, but the rest of her knew her priorities were different than his these days. "Good to see you again Atrum. I knew you couldn't have been killed so easily. And if you want to get fixed up before you head out, I know a lady with powerful healing magic running a clinic around here."
"Geh heh yeah I know you are, but I however have no such restraint, I guess we northerners are just crazy like that." The Giant replied from the ground, it wasn't in his nature to give up, nor was it to hold back though he did that a lot, well details perhaps he wasn't as blood thirsty as he thought. It was that or Fiore was getting to him and he was going soft, by the life mother how terrifying. Still he had a great fight, Kotone was strong and had certainly kicked his ass, he had planned on resting this off by just sleeping somewhere warm. "Eh A family? Is that not even more reason to practice?" Atrum asked taking her hand and pulling himself to his feet..
"Cultural differences I suppose, I shall not push you on the subject but i certainly hope that I can push you to try a bit harder now an then if getting stronger has become secondary." He offered. "I honestly could not tell whether or not I even did the job of not dying right, I mean I blinked and then I was bleeding out with a heart in my hand and some red head was cauterizing my wound so I did not just bleed to death. So considering that I almost put myself in that exact situation again without the time travel, or the convenient red head, I would love to meet your healer friend." Atrum said feeling like his mind wasn't focusing properly He was fine right?

"Personal preferences, I think," Kotone shrugged. It wasn't like she wasn't practicing. She'd trained like a madwoman to get back into shape after having a kid. Heck, she was in the best shape of her life, but she lacked in actual recent combat experience, save for a few bouts. She wasn't so keen on going and risking her life needlessly now that she had people who she cared about wanting her to come home at the end of the day, and in the end she knew that if Atrum kept up what he was doing, that would make him stronger, at least in terms of raw power.
Kotone's grin widened slightly as she gave a sidelong glance to Atrum while she looked around the area. It wasn't even in that bad of shape all things considered. Tatsuma had been far more reckless with his magic. "I don't think you know how to die," she grinned slightly. "When your day comes it'll be the grim reaper that goes home nursing a burn wound or three." She shrugged again, taking a deep breath before shaking out her burnt wrist. "Now, as for the healer, I think she's in for a bit of work," she observed as she put her hands in her pockets and walked that direction.
"Geh heh, if I am going I am going down with as much of a fight as I can manage. No one is going to take me down without feeling the full force of my might." He said almost reflexively activating his magic around his hand to create some flame to emphasize his point, he felt a bit faint. "Well unless I kill myself through sheer stupidity, looks like I can not rule that one out just yet." He said regaining his balance, maybe he needed to go to that healer a bit sooner. "I think we should get going before I do something else, or we have to stop a robbery or something. I feel so light compared to normal it is really quite nauseating." He grumbled under his breath, annoyed at his own weakness. Hells that always got under his skin, needed to beat the stupid out of himself later.
"So the clinic is around here right? Can not wait to not feel like I just got my rear kicked by another strong opponent. ;Hells seriously this battle lust is going to kill me instead of the battles it drives me to." He was only verbally complaining because mana drain left him feeling gutted, talking helped him forget that he should probably be dead. ;Most people died from draining their magic extensively, he must have the bare minimum left, that or his body was eating itself, no wait he knows what that feels like much more painful. He should be in the clear, at least for now. Oh great now he was hungry, the little vargr dragged atrum's pack to him and he took it from it's jaws, slinging it onto his back. "Alright I am done complaining and i am ready to go." He said patting the size changing Canine.

Atrum was certainly a stubborn man. Even after that he'd try to stop a robbery or something; not that there was going to be a robbery, Hosenka was generally one of the nicer towns, due in large part to Kotone's history of living there and beating down anyone who caused trouble for the people she'd lived around for so long. Despite the fact that she'd spent most of her teenage years wandering Fiore, she had long considered Hosenka to be her home town.
"Yeah, the clinic is right here. Try not to keel over before we head inside," she grinned before walking inside the building. An elderly lady with a faded guild tattoo sat in a char, greeting Kotone warmly when she walked inside. The tattoo was a foreign one, not matching any of the guilds present in Fiore. "Hey to you too, Mrs. Morris," she chuckled. "Yeah, I guess I need a little fixed up while I'm in town. I just had a bit of an intense sparring match with this guy here. He sounds like he might need looked over too, just in case."
There was a split moment where Atrum had second thoughts about seeing a doctor, call it paranoia. Normally he just found a place to hide away until his wounds healed, or he found a doctor that he was close friends with, less to do with not trusting public doctors and more to do with the fact that he was still used to live constantly under attack. The moment faded after he reminded himself that Kotone trusted this person enough to treat her wounds, and wouldn't willingly bring him to someone who wanted him dead. He also reminded himself that despite his best efforts to let Shadow heart and the genreal public know exactly who was coming for the Shadowblords head that his name was relatively unknown, except by Gregory. Gods bless you Gregory always remembering who Atrum was, like a beacon of sanity in a wold of madness.
"I apologize for my intrusion," Atrum stated simply giving the woman a nod without actually entering for a few seconds after Kotone had acknowledged his existence for the other woman's benefit. Doctors, there was something about ones he didn't know that always made him a bit nervous, probably had to with how much knowledge they needed to have to do their jobs, knowing how to repair a human body meant you easily knew just as much to destroy it after all. Maybe that fact just, along with the issue og giving up self control to them when he went in for treatment was what made him nervous. Or it could just be the needles, last he checked no one liked getting stabbed, not even him.

"Sit down dear, sit down," the older woman gently took Kotone's arm (thankfully the one that wasn't burned) as the dragon slayer finished shrugging off her jacket and placing it on the counter. Kotone sat down as the woman looked at the burn wounds on her arms and sides. "One of these days you're going to get yourself burned so badly I can't heal it dear, I keep telling you that," she chuckled. "We'd hate to burn that flawless young skin of yours," she chuckled and Kotone just sighed. She wasn't as self conscious as she used to be, but she still wished the woman wouldn't say such things in front of Atrum.
'I'm fiiine," she protested at the woman. "I promise. Nothing too bad's gonna happen to me. I've got people to go home and see after all," she reminded her. Her reasoning was that she had too good of a reason not to die. She'd told the woman this the last time, when she'd been asked her plans before she'd had Eri.
The woman placed her hands on the burns, leaving glowing strips of magic in the spots she put them before moving on to Atrum - her healing magic. "As for you," she placed her hands on her hips. "You're going to have to sit on the floor if you want me to give you a proper examination. You're just too tall for a small old woman like me."
