"Yeah I hope so, I mean I never really got to know them too well because of school but they were still blood." She said nodding with her arms crossed. "Oh hey there's your cool side. That modest brag of yours works I like it." She said clapping her hands together applauding him. "Oh? Is that a challenge? You better watch out Raven, once I set my mind to something it gets done. I may be a mouse to you now but I won't be for long I have so much growing to do and It'll happen faster than you expect it!" She laughed, raven was pretty fun. At least he was lightening up now, he was a bit gloomy before he looked much better with a real smile on his face.
"I wouldn't mind a few lessons from you, whenever you're ready for them give me a call at Sabertooth I'd be more than happy to accompany you." She said giving Raven a teasing wink before breaking into a fit of rather undignified giggles. "I'd be absolutely charmed to share a drink with you Raven." She said wiping a tear from her eye. "It'll be fun, I'm sure of it! Ah and I wouldn't mind meeting that smith friend of yours as well if that isn't too much trouble. Not that you need to, we should go get something to drink have some fun." She said grabbing Raven by the hand. "You know the area a bit better than I, I bet you'll find a place for us to relax better than I will." She said pretty excitedly, before stopping and giving Raven a sheepish look. "Oh I'm probably not helping the whole relax thing when I get excited like this am I?" She asked giving him a look.
"Blood huh...?" That took him back to his lack of family. Though that didn't last long as she latched onto some feature of his that she liked. Which he should have been expecting by now... but wasn't. He didn't even know why he wasn't expecting that from her. But that was quickly gone as she went on about how one say she'd beat him. "Sabertooth huh...? I'll be sure to swing by if I'm in the area. And hopefully one of the times I do you'll be stronger."
"It's fine that you're excited," He said shrugging. It really didn't bug him... He didn't really care since no one was being hurt. "Part of relaxing is having fun, right? So just have fun. I'll tell you if you're getting out of hand or being a bother. So don't worry so much about it."
It was then Raven realized that Bellua was holding his hand. He had the finger-less gloves on but his fingers were still making skin contact. And her skin felt cool to the touch, compared to his own warmer than normal skin. But he shrugged that off and looked around. "There's a bar about three blocks back. It was advertising rooms for really drunk people. We could probably go there to get out of the sun. The smith is back in Magnolia so that'll have to wait."

"Come on then let's go! We're wasting time in this heat!" Bellua said tugging on his arm so they could get going. "I'll be relying on you to tell me if I cross a line 'kay?" She requested, giving him a smile. "I'm glad you know how to have fun, I met this one guy while on a job, he refused to let me have any fun on it. 'guard the charge' he said. 'Don't deviate from the path' he said 'as long as we follow the book we'll be fine' he said." She rolled her eyes. "Wasn't expecting a bandit ambush, the idiot. I wanted to take our 'charge' off the beaten path go out of the way see the sights have some fun but nooo bandits bandits everywhere. At least I got to set some bad guys on fire but still that always happened we didn't meet some kind of midboss guy just plain boring old thugs."
"I haven't been on a job with a partner since, they guy kept blaming me for everything, I don't even know who he was I don't remember seeing him in the guild." She shrugged clearly not enjoying the though of the annoying guy but nevertheless having fun talking about the adventure. "Haven't seen him since either, which suits me just fine missions are soo much more fun when I'm allowed to deal with it as I please, I mean yeah totally get the job done but as long as I'm not hurting anyone innocent and not failing the job I should have the freedom the do a job how I please right? I mean right?" she babbled happily as she accompanied Raven.

"Don't worry. I will," he promised and let her babble on as they walked. With her pulling them, it looked more like they were on a date. But he guessed it didn't matter how it looked. After all, they'd only just met and stuff. As long as he understood that, then it didn't matter how it looked.
"I'm a not by the books kind of guy myself," He nodded slowly as he saw them approaching the bar. A good drink would do him wonders. He gave Bellua a slight grin. "There's nothing wrong with a little fun as long as the job gets done on time and the people who aren't supposed to be hurt don't get hurt. That's what I've always lived by."
"I wonder if they have a booth in there," He said quietly as they neared the door. It would be fantastic if they did. He didn't want to deal with a ton of people right then. And it seemed more fun to just be of to the side with Bellua. "Because I think it'd be fun to just buy a bottle and sit off to the side."

"Oh cool, I don't often go into bars, never felt like it and, well, drunk people tend to be a hassle." She trailed off, well not like she minded the attention of people but when a person was drunk, they were kinda annoying. "A booth sounds great actually let's see if they got one." She said marching into the place without a second thought. She put her hand around and looked for a booth pretty easy to find one right? Just walk in look around the edge of the place and oh look there were quite a few. "Nice, we got place to sit." She stated slipping into a booth closest to the door. Did bars normally have booth's she only remembered seeing the stools at the bar and normal tables, looks like they lucked out.
"Boots are soo comfortable, why aren't more people in them?" Bellua asked curiously sliding all the way to the end of the booth and leaning against the wall. "These seats are soo soft, I could just fall asleep here." she said closing her eyes for a brief second before opening one and flashing a smile. "I'm not that defenseless though, I couldn't sleep here if my life depended on it, waaay too open." She giggled, can't shake some habits after all. "And it' nice and cool in here."

"I frequent bars when I stop into a town during my travels," He said before walking up to the bar. He got some scotch and figured she would get something she liked. Or she could have at the scotch. He didn't mind sharing. "It's the next best thing to being part of a guild when it comes to catching rumors. And since I'm not in a guild..."
"But that's neither here nor there," He said shrugging and pouring himself a glass. He was currently sitting about as far as he could from Bellua, but that was mostly out of habit. He did smile at her. "I was about to say... I thought you said I was entertaining. Now you're going to pass out on me? That's a pretty bad joke..."
"But at least with me here you won't have to worry about random drunks showing up," He nodded confidently. He took a sip from his drink, enjoying the burn. The day was turning out better than he originally thought it would. It didn't stop him from glancing out and looking over the bar to make sure no one was approaching. "And it's out of the sun."

"Yeah it's nice being out of the sun~ Don't worry Raven I'll happy chat your ear off as long as you want, not a wink of sleep for this girl." She giggled back at Raven, giving him a sly grin. "I'm not so convinced I'm free from harassment with you waaay over there." She giggled curling up in her seat, wait nope, being all scrunched up like this wasn't very comfortable better go back to sitting normally. "It's fine though they'd have to get through you first if they want to talk bother me." She glanced at Raven as he took a drink, well what did we have here? Well she preferred rice wine personally but she wasn't adverse to trying new things, in fact she loved it. She snatched up a glass and leaned over towards Raven and grabbed the bottle. "Don't mind me just wanna little taste of this." Bellua flashed Raven a smile and poured herself a small drink.
"Whelp down the hatch," She smirked taking a drink, well this was, weeeeird. She couldn't place the taste, was there even one? "I have no idea if I like this or not. Cool~" She giggled swirling the drink in her glass. This stuff was definitely alcohol, probably a bad idea to drink too much. Raven was a cool guy, but she didn't get to where she was by being a defenseless little Jane Doe, passing out on him would be bad. He didn't seem like he was ready to help a drunk girl walk out of a bar. She'd be nice and let him avoid that responsibility today, it wasn't like she couldn't just enjoy a bit of a drink with him. "So you like this stuff? It's like the weirdest stuff I ever tasted I dunno, if it's good or not." She swirled the drink around some more ans gave Raven a sideways smirk. "Give me a bit I'll figure out if this new drink will satisfy my palette. I-is it an acquired taste?" She peered into the drink inquisitively.
"I find that any hard liquor is an acquired taste," Raven said with a shrug. Which was then followed by another sip from his drink. Setting the glass down he closed his eyes. While they were closed he took his time to clean his sunglasses with his shirt. "But with my size and constitution it takes a lot more of the lighter drinks to get the same effect."
"So... I'm a little curious about you," he admitted. He took a moment to choose his words carefully. She didn't know who he was. Between the jacket and his name a lot of people would have realized who he was. Which, as he already knew, meant she was newish to Fiore. But that didn't change the scent he was picking up. And since she was willing to talk he was going to poke a bit.
"You have this... air about you," he said with a slight shrug. But he was facing her, giving her his full attention. He was pretty relaxed looking though, as he leaned back. "Like you've got a strange power, or aren't wholly human. What's up with that?"
"Huh, that right?" Bellua asked taking another sip smiling at Raven. "I'm not much of a drinker, more of a thrill seeker, but I guess alcohol has it's own charms." She replied finishing off her drink and setting it on the ground. Raven was being a bit quiet again, maybe he just didn't have much to say? He looked like the type to rather sit in the corner and not be noticed. Ah! I mean his demeanor not his actual looks. His still looked out of place and punkish to her. Though he acted like all he wanted was for people to leave him be.
"Oh? You want to know more about me? And here I thought you weren't interested." She giggled as he asked her about her power, wait did he just call her subhuman? Bellua frowned and put a finger to her head in thought. "Oh you must mean my magic!" She concluded after what was an embarrassingly long minute. "I am a Devil slayer, which I dunno my teacher didn't tell me how it worked and I don't remember how I got it. But I do remember the speech that the old man gave me though I don't think I should bore you with his ramblings. Actually if I'm perfectly honest him describing my magic was honestly the best part of the lessons." She smiled staring at the empty glass. "I guess most Devil slayers must be a bit weird then? I don't remember meeting any others but I remember a few people referring to me as a Slayer like there's more than one kind." She put her hands up sighing in resignation. She didn't presume to know what was even going on.
When she said she thought he wasn't interested in her, Raven was glad he had the sunglasses on. His eyes shifted to the side sheepishly, but she wouldn't be able to see that. Then Bellua went on about how she didn't know much about her magic. That was strange... A trained soldier who didn't know how to use her strongest weapon? It'd be stupid to leave her on her own. Magic was volatile and if things got bad she could hurt herself or others.
"There are indeed other slayers out there," Raven shrugged as he finished off his glass. Taking the bottle he poured himself another. "There's people out there who were raised and trained to fight by dragons. Their magic gave them the strength to fight against and even kill dragons. But, this magic makes them superhuman in strength, endurance, and senses."
"I'd be willing to bet Devil slayers aren't too different," Raven suggested with a shrug. He was looking at Bellua again as he spoke, and was keeping his voice surprisingly even. Mentioning killing drag "Though... I don't know that devils gave you power. They usually kill/torture people. In my experience anyway."
"The good news is," Raven offered her a slight smile. He took a sip from his new glass and set it back down. People were coming and going, and Raven was keeping an eye on it all. "I know a fair bit about magic in general. You may not know where you got it... but I bet with some guidance and practice you can learn to control it better. And I've found control often leads to discovering more about your magic. And Fiore is a landd rich with history and magic. I'm sure you'll find some clue in your misadventures."
Post by Bellua Daemon on Sept 1, 2015 19:36:21 GMT
"Raised by dragons? No way! I can't believe it! Some people are lucky dragons are awesome, the Dragons, top of the food chain, second to none in power, and beholden to no country on Earthland! And the magic they wield so powerful, so primal, it screams authority and regal right. Those beautiful creatures raising human's? I mean Tyr mentioned something like that but I didn't think that it was common here! Wow this is so cool! And me stuck with a military school and loads of missing memories to boot."
So this meant that there were likely others with her kind of magic around Fiore as well! Maybe they knew something about how slayers got their magic, she was really interested in her magic's history. How did it come about, was it like dragons? Did Devils get sick of their own kind and get humans to help? Did humans do something to give human's the power of devils? What? What? Oh she really wanted to know it was driving her crazy! She was practically bouncing with excitement.
"Not too different no, I'm a lot stronger than I look and I have enhanced senses to though I'm not sure how enhanced they are. I mean it's not like I ever tested myself against a normal person or another slayer." Bellua rocked her head back and forth in thought. "I dunno how we get our powers, they are definitely not just given out in a dollar store I know that. But my teachers never explained anything about the origins of my magic."
"Ah! I know control is important! You don't need to tell me, my teacher kept telling me that to. 'You must control your self you worthless wretches, your magic is unique and dangerous a single moment of weakness and your worthless hides will become direct threats to your home!' and stuff like that." She gave a small sigh before flashing a grin at Raven. "Thank you though, I'll be sure to keep your advice in mind while I travel around I'm sure 'll learn lots while I travel here- wait misadventures?"
Raven closed his eyes and had to bite his tongue as Bellua spoke about the dragons. He had mixed feelings about them... and not just because he'd killed one. Draco had abandoned him after giving him a mission. One he'd never actually be able to complete. He used to believe that he could, but after having to go into Valland and kill someone to stop a war... he wasn't so sure. It was one of several doubts he'd had about his mission and the goals of Draco. Goals he'd likely never truly understand.
"Raised is a strong word," He said with a slight shrug, though his voice was a little quieter as he spoke. He took a larger sip of his drink with closed eyes and shrugged. "The dragons are as you say though. But they don't always act like they're the top of the food chain. Draco used to really care for humans. Course... with Valland doing what it was doing he spent a long time in hiding. But that's neither here nor there."
"This might sound a bit selfish but..." He said looking back at Bellua. "Sometimes it's best to let the past go and just focus on tomorrow. After everything that's happened I doubt the dragons here in Fiore will want anything to do with humans for a long, long time. If ever. And Dragon slayers weren't all that common either. I'm pretty sure the dragons that did raise humans only took one human each. I only know of a few dragon slayers personally and none of them mentioned having any siblings, adoptive or otherwise while they were in the dragon's care."
"And I hadn't meant quite that... Though what he said is true," He grinned slightly. "If your powers are anything like a dragon slayers, a whole city block being reduced to rubble in an instant isn't outside the realm of possibility for you. I just meant that as you learn to control it, you learn more about the magic itself. And that might give you a clue."

Bellua gave Raven a curious look as he mentioned 'Draco' oh no, past tense, that wasn't good, was it? She must've gotten on a touchy subject again she always did this blabbed away and bounced off all the bad memories of others, Good god this was annoying. How are you supposed to have a pleasant conversation if you keep reducing the other person to tears? Oh man this sucked big time, Okay need to find a way to smoothly move on to the next topic. Right no more talk about possible dead Dragons, that's a sad conversation anyways.
"Wait what do you mean forget about the past?" She asked with a curious look on her face. "Err I don't really get it?" she paused and stared at Raven for a bit before shrugging. "I wouldn't understand about the event with the dragons I wasn't even here around then I think? I got everything second hand you know? Oh that makes sense actually, I can be that strong? That's kinda cool, wait, no, I wouldn't want to hurt anyone." She waved her hands back and forth worriedly. "So, Um, I guess that means you're a-" She paused and shook her head and flashed Raven a smile. "So I guess that these slayers are pretty famous around here right?"
Why did she, bleh didn't matter. She took another drink and sighed. "I think I don't like this stuff after all." She grinned, swishing the drink around in it's glass. "But it's interesting, unique really, so I think I'll keep at it." She said taking another drink. Oh this stuff tasted weird.
Her rambling seemed kind of jumbled this time, but Raven didn't mind. He took another sip and tapped his finger on the table. "In my experience, to get further in life someone else has to get hurt. It's probably a skewed way of thinking but... If there was a way to live life without hurting others, then few people care to try."
"The story of the dragons..." he trailed off and took another sip. "I can tell you about it since I was there if you're interested. Though it is a fairly short tale. Short and tragic."
"Most of the known slayers are famous for one reason or another," Raven shrugged and set his glass down. "Kotone fought in the Refusal war. Tatsuma died fighting the Shadow Lord, revealing who that man really was in the process. They did more than that, but that's probably what they're most well known for if you were to ask around. In their own way, they earned their place as heroes. And in Kotone's case the title Wizard Saint."
"What they all share in common here in Fiore," He said smiling slightly. "Is fighting to protect those that couldn't. Every time there's been a major threat to the people of Fiore, they've always stepped up and lent the people their strength. They've fought and bled for people who didn't always believe in them. For their own reasons I'm sure. I don't think anyone can honestly step up and say they did it purely for other people. It doesn't change that people look up to them."
"By all means," Raven said raising his glass to her. "I bought the bottle to share."
Post by Bellua Daemon on Sept 18, 2015 2:38:40 GMT
"Really? I guess I'm too young to understand that, I mean I'm not exactly a shining example of a perfectly good human being, but I don't think I ever consciously screwed someone over that didn't deserve it. I guess I wouldn't really know either way." She swished the remaining drink in her cup around and shook her head. "Maybe I'll listen to it later I'm not really in the mood for a sad story. I'm more of a scary story girl myself anyways." She said, leaning over. Raven was just a bit of a downer, or was the alcohol making him more of a downer than normal? She couldn't tell, it was a bit difficult to remember if he had been talking like this since they meant. No wait he totally hadn't he only got like this when they started talking about each other.
"So all the Dragon slayers tend to be good natured in general? That's nice It's pretty good that all or at least most of the dragon slayers a person could name are good natured. I mean I don't want to imagine what it would be like if it were the opposite, gives me shivers I'll tell you what." She said taking another drink. "You're probably right about that, it's probably not likely that they had purely selfless reasons for doing good things, I mean if you're fighting for peace I assume you kinda want to enjoy that peace. I don't think it matters though, if they have fun by going out fighting bad guys and rescuing people, helping those who can't help themselves then who are we to get on their case about it? I mean they're still people right? Just because they go out to do heroic stuff doesn't mean they are selfless paragons who only live to serve others. They have their own lives to right? Anyone can do what they're told, it's actually pretty easy to be a soldier, and fight for others because it's what their supposed to do. The ones who do it because they want to are rare, my home didn't have Hero's, just soldiers, all soldiers." She said in between several drinks, She smiled as Raven raised his glass and mimicked the motion before sighed. "I don't really understand Hero's, but I respect them."
