"No you're not going crazy," Raven confirmed with a grin. That grin faded slightly as she continued. Ending with how it was sad. Yeah, it was probably really sad. He'd lost a lot and made mistakes too which probably didn't help any. Resisting a sigh he settled for shrugging. "That's how it is when you're one of those heroes Fiore constantly pops out."
"We always show up when there's trouble, fight it off, and go on our way again," He shrugged again as he turned back to Bellua with a slight smirk on his face. He didn't want her feeling bad for him. He was good enough at that as it was. "Some of them find their way into guilds. I just haven't is all. It's not as bad as it sounds. Most of the time anyway."
"You look like you don't handle the heat well," Raven said folding his arms against his chest. He also said it as if he was completely fine in this weather. "We could go find a cooler place in town if you'd like."

"But you're going out of your way to help people, you should get something back for all that selflessness, I mean Karma has to cut you hero's a break at some point right?" She got a annoyed look on her face, she couldn't stand people not getting their due. She wouldn't call her self selfless or heroic, especially with her behavior. She danced the line somewhere between good Samaritan and cat burglar. There were lines she wouldn't cross and that was mostly because of Karma, The worse you got the worse you got it coming and she wasn't about to test her luck she saw what happened to evil people and it was never pretty.
"Kinda, I mean the gentle warmth of a fire, or the pleasant heat of a hot tub I love it . I can take a huge amount of heat due to my magic but with the sun bearing down on me like thins I just want to crawl into a shaded hole and pass out." She complained, she used fire magic so there were a lot of heat she could take, it was the kind of heat that got to her. "Desert heat, Tropical heat, I can't stand them I think the cool weather of the woods is the best, it's not too cool and the heat doesn't make you regret living in the area either, and the clearing means plenty of nice gentle sunlight!"
"So why haven't you joined a guild? I haven't heard of them turning people down, don't agree with their rules or something? I can see that, Blue Pegasus is full of weirdos from what I saw, and Lamia Scale takes itself waay to seriously. That's not even mentioning the others like Mermaid Heel, who's name I'm not even going to get into." She sighed shrugging. "Long story short I can see why someone might not want to join a guild."
"Karma is paying me my due already," he'd killed Draco. No amount of good work would undo that karma. But that's all he was going really say about it, was that he was getting his due. On top of everything else anyway. And now he felt like he needed a drink... but that was back in his inn room. Of all the rotten...
"I haven't joined a guild for a couple of reasons," He said turning and looking around town. This was a direction he didn't want to conversation to go. He wasn't drunk enough for it. Not that he usually got drunk when he drank. Then again... he wasn't drunk enough for the amount of socializing he was doing either. He must be really needy... "Mainly that I wouldn't fit in with them. And that's all I want to say there."
"We should probably get you out of the heat though," He said shifting the topic to her. He didn't like talking about himself that much. Then again.... who talks about what they don't like. "Since you don't like the desert heat and all. And you probably aren't having as much fun since we're out here."

"I still say Karma's cheaping out on you, but I guess you really don't want to talk about yourself much at all. Though if you didn't act so aloof I might not be so curious." She lightly teased shrugging her shoulders, people often hid things about themselves her included. She couldn't fault him for clamming up like that. Still it only made her more curious about him and now that he got her interested she was't about to give up the conversation just like that.
"Well I'm more annoyed by it than anything else, but it's not like I'm not having a good time hanging out with you or anything. I mean you clearly don't want to talk about yourself but that's fine let's talk about something else instead, I don't wanna make you uncomfortable. Tell me about the western part of the country it looks so different than the rest of the country" She asked
Bellua flashed a smile at her new friend she was having a bit of fun, the heat wasn't getting rid of that just making it hard to enjoy. "Or we could talk about possible monster hunting equipment since I'm currently looking for some. I wasn't supplied any, so I kinda need to fend for myself." She giggled yeah right how likely was she to get some awesome monster hunting equipment with her luck?
She seemed strangely interested in him. Uncomfortably so. However he didn't need to change the subject since she, thankfully, did it for him. Twice. Which was mildly annoying, but he let it slide. Especially since he had some knowledge of what she was asking about in both fields. Especially the second one. "Well, I don't have any monster hunting weapons you can have."
"But I can let you see one," He said as he reached up to pull the blade from it's sheath. The red blade came free from the feather patterned black scabbard. It was as long as Raven's arm, and looked similar to an eastern style blade. However it was perfectly straight instead of having that slight curve towards it. Then he held out the hilt for her to take. "This blade was specially forged for one of my... Talents."
"The smith is a bit fickle though... at best you'd only be able to request a weapon. What you get is entirely up to his whims, if he even agrees to it," Raven said with a slight smirk. The blade itself was heavier than Raven made it look, but not unwieldy so. If she touched the blade, Bellua would notice how comfortably hot the blade was. Not enough to actually burn, butt hot enough to not want to touch for long. It also carried a similar scent to Raven. "As you can see though... it's a work of art."

(Comrfortably warm XD) "Ah! Is that modeled after a Eastern sword but with a western edge?" Bellua whispered gazing at the weapon tentatively taking the blade from his hand. It was warm, she liked the heat of the blade far more than the sun baring down on her. It was heavier than Raven had made it look but she was also far stronger than she looked. The blade did not droop like it would have normally when passed off to someone else, as she kept the blade level to inspect it. Oh that shine, that pleasant warmth, the hefty reassuring weight. That lack of curve that eastern blades had made the thing a bit rubbish, but still, looked beautiful. why would you want a straightened eastern blade the curve helped it slice through things.
"I wouldn't call it art though, oh don't get me wrong it's beautiful. But when I think of art I don't think of anything practical or immediately useful, just something pretty to look at. This smith of yours made this weapon's beauty extend into it's use as well right?" She rambled before asking suddenly. "Did he tell you why the blade is so straight? Eastern blades are made for cutting into things it's why their curved in the first place but this one is straight like it was made with the intention of stabbing a fool as well. I guess you could thrust with this blade though, might be a bit of a gamble unless you're setting up for some kind of swordplay technique. I'm no good with swords myself I couldn't tell you left from right when it comes to how their techniques work I just know what they are used for. I personally I don't like them it's a personally taste thing I appreciate them but they seem so standard. But this one shines like a beautiful diamond!" Her words came out rapid fire with little pauses for rest. Eye's widened with unrestrained joy, as she inspected the blade.
"Ah I'm sorry I didn't mean to be insulting or overbearing. Here you go, your weapon is really great you should be proud! This smith of yours is great." She said passing it back with a smile on her face.
"Heh," He took the blade back and slowly put it in it's sheath. Her excitement was contagious, at least a little. So instead of hanging the blade on his back again he just held onto it. He did leave out the tidbit of what the blade was made of. "There's nothing wrong with being excited over something. If people didn't care so much about stuff it wouldn't be worth pursuing. And honestly... Fiore needs people excited about fighting still. It probably will for awhile."
"As for the straight edge," He said looking down at the sheathed blade. "My magic is... special. And the blade was designed to amplify it more than be used offensively. Plus, straight edges make countering and parrying easier. My magic is pretty destructive, so it's kind of nice to have something less... volatile on hand when fights do break out. I don't like destroying large portions of entire city blocks."
"The reason I mentioned the smith is because you could probably get yourself a weapon from him," He said giving her a slight nod. "It most likely won't be to this quality. I had... special materials for this job. But he's really good at forging weapons that seem to fit you perfectly. It's almost as if he can see into your soul and see what your natural talents lend to or something. It's pretty uncanny."

"Ah! I'm not really that impressive of a fighter I mean I kinda like fights but I'm not so good at them..." She trailed off the embarrassed look on her face giving way to one of defeated acceptance. "Oh who am I kidding the teacher definitely got to me there, I love fighting. It's just embarrassing alright. People always look at me when I talk about fighting like I'm weird and like I'm going to attack them and ew I just feel so gross afterwards" She complained briefly before raising an eyebrow at Raven's comment. "What do you mean Fiore needs people excited about fighting? Aren't there plenty?" She asked scratching her head.
"I know what you mean with destructive magic, I can see wanting a non-lethal option. Having your setting permanently set to murder would really kill the mood, pun not intended." She said smiling at Raven. "You're a nice guy, but you're a bit of a dork you know that? It feels like everything you say has all this weight behind it, but I just met you to me it's a bit over dramatic. Kinda like you are spending every moment reliving some moving moment of your life. But I like talking to you, you just seem so nice. I wouldn't worry if I were you though You're still attractive and being a bit dorky add charm. I'm glad you took the time to entertain me." She giggled losing focus for a bit.
"I'm not sure I'm that comfortable with someone staring into my soul...though a weapon made just for me sounds kinda nice." She stared off into the distance. "I wonder what weapon is a match for me." She accidentally asked aloud without really focusing, she giggled not realizing she had spoken the last part aloud. The smith sounded both scary and strangely kind of nice. Made him interesting, she wanted to go see him if only to see what he was like. "Hey Raven, what do you think of fighting?"[/color She asked tentatively she was curious about his opinion on fighting he was clearly good at it. Or at least had some competence right?
"I said that because despite Valland being utterly defeated and stuff there's still a lot of threats floating around," He said shrugging slightly. Technically he was one, but so was just about everyone who fended off the dragons. "There's plenty of monsters, remnant militant former Valland forces, internal baddies like the Red Blades... The list goes on. The biggest threat might be gone but that does little to solve the mountain of other problems that seem to require a delicious dose of violence to fix."
"Eh?" He blinked in surprise. She was saying a lot of things, and not all of them made him fell comfortable. Not in a bad way but... few actually spoke that way about him. It was more foreign than bad. But it still took him by surprise. At least he was mostly honest with his followup. "I've seen some stuff but I'm not reliving it all the time."
"As for fighting..." He shifted the topic. He had to pause and think about it. He hadn't thought about fighting in awhile. But there was a grin on his face as he spoke. "I used to like it a lot. Now... Well, I still do but there's only a few people around that would really be fun to fight. I'm not trying to brag when I say this but... I'm strong. And I'm sure you understand that only other strong people are fun to fight. So I can't really bring myself to say you're bad for liking fighting, even if I wanted to. Actually, it makes it a little easier to talk to you knowing you at least kind of understand."

"Oh? Constant trouble? Maybe this place isn't that different from home then. 'Danger on every side, a few Hero's stand against the wailing dark threatening to swallow their home. Can they stand against the enemies that endanger their homes?' I certainly hope so, but if we got people like you and the others I heard of then I'm not too worried." She replied waving her hand back and forth, waving the mental idea away, a bit too dramatic maybe she should've gone for a thriller edge instead of a adventure type. (not that either choice would remove the drama syrup she slathered all over that synopsis.)
"Oh don't get me wrong it's just kinda how you sound to me. Your voice is kinda cool when you're all serious like that, I mean I find it a bit dorky, but I'm pretty sure it's no secret by now that I keep my own mouth shut. Most people say it's more than a little annoying when I ramble and I totally get them I mean how do you even talk to someone who won't let you get a word in edgewise? You totally can't, but I can't help myself sometimes I get all excited and can't stop talking. So feel free to tell me to shut up when I annoy you I know I would." She rapid fired
"Yeah, I know what you mean but I keep running into scary strong people here when I do choose to fight like that one guy, Stood like three feet taller than me I swear, fought like a monster out for blood and he was hurt to so he wasn't even at full strength I totally though I was gonna die, but...it was kinda fun I mean the big guy was the most memorable fight but there were totally others to mostly the guys in my guild, but that big guy was scary." She said smiling at the memory sure she got her ass handed to her throughout that fight but she got some good hits in that made her proud. Her eye sparkled as she remembered the fight that at the time she was totally not happy to be a part of. What? It was scary!
"I wasn't trying to be that dramatic," He said frowning slightly. He folded his arms against his chest and looked to the side. "I just wanted to emphasize there's a lot going on and I can't be everywhere at once. And it's kind of disheartening when there's like, maybe five people across all the guilds that step up to take on problems before they become nation destroying ones."
"You probably weren't here for it," He said tapping his chin thoughtfully. "But we ended up struggling with a lot of things at once a few years ago. And while we were dealing with some of it, the magic council split, causing a civil war. And it was right then that Shadow Heart decided to pop up and cause trouble. Having a few more people for how much was going on a the time would have been fantastic and probably would have saved lives."
"There were others helping obviously," He said shrugging slightly. "But it felt like I was the only one fighting sometimes."
"It's okay to ramble at me," Raven sad sounding slightly awkward. There was the slightest blush on his face, not because of strange romantic feelings, but because it felt embarrassing to admit. "I normally travel alone and don't interact with people on a more casual level. It's... nice."
"A tall man..." He went from blushing to a more thoughtful look. He took that time to push his sunglasses up again as he looked back at Bellua. The only one who fit that image was Atrum... Then he held up his hand. "About this tall, used fire magic. Got creepily excited when punched? If that's who you're talking about I know him. He was with me and the others when we defeated Shadow Heart's guild master. But he was caught in a trap at the end of the fight and vanished..."

"Wow, everything seems so peaceful here I would've never guessed! Sounds tough, the complete opposite of my home. Everyone is required to fight where I come from. Not that it changes anything..." She said rubbing her chin for a bit before blinking and staring wide eye'd at Raven. "Wait Valland was defeated? Then maybe my home isn't still under siege so I suppose I have you and the other hero's of this country to thank for freeing my home if it's true." She said with a small hop, she cared nothing for her country itself she left it because of it's over bearing attitude towards loyalty, she did have people she cared about there though, her parents and a few people she found interesting.
"Thanks I appreciate someone willing to deal with my long winded rants." She said clapping her hands together. before listening to the rest of Raven's reply. "Yeah his name was Atrum, this redhead, Roxy her name was, and I found him in the Worth Woodsea, he was all cut us so Roxy cauterized his wounds. he was literally missing some chunks from him it's surprising he was still alive. He acted a bit crazy as well, but he was really nice and seemed quiet normal until he asked me to help him work off the meal we got him. They we got into a fight and I could have sworn he was trying to kill me. He kept acting like the fight had just gotten down a few minutes ago. I think he went home afterwards. You friends with him?"
"Yeah, we went and dealt with that," Raven nodded slowly. Then he shrugged with a sigh. "Mostly anyway. We killed Emperor Takashi. The empire fell apart with his defeat. But there's still factions of their former military still out causing trouble. So I don't think your home is completely safe just yet. But it's easier to defend now at least."
"...Friends is a strong word," He said shaking his head slowly with a wry grin. He uncrossed his arms. "With the exception of fighting a common enemy every meeting we ever had usually dissolved into fighting. Afterwards he'd want to eat large amounts of food and drink excessive amounts of alcohol. I wouldn't say we were friends, but he certainly viewed me as a rival."
"But that was years ago," He reiterated with a shrug. "Who knows about now, since he's come back. ...Well, judging by what you said he hasn't changed at all."
"Though, I guess if you lost then you've got a long way to go," He said teasing her just a little. But then he shrugged again and pulled out a small bottle of water he had stashed away and took a sip. "But then, I'm sure you'll get there in your own way. Since you like fighting and all that."

"That's fine defeating the empire is enough help if you ask me! My country has been surrounded by them on all sides for like ages now, if you guys came in and... er killed their emperor then their forces should be easing up on my old homes borders that's good news for the people I care about there. Ah maybe my parents could leave like they always wanted that'd be great!" She said with a smile, optimism was good right? She held out hope for her parents, but wasn't about to start hoping that her home might be a decent place to live now. ugh she really hated that place.
"Wha? Hey! Long way to go? Hey I may have skipped out on the last part of my training but I'll have you know I am a proud warrior!" She said giving him the best mock glare she could manage. She gave him a wink before backing off and grinning at him. "You're probably right though he was terrifying I was completely unprepared. I should work harder so I can pay him back for that. Ahh Now you got me pumped!" She sighed bumping Raven gently with a fist. "I mean I really wanted to win then but now I really want to get stronger, I hadn't been pressed that hard since school." She complained stamping her foot impatiently. "He missed out on about four years of training so if he was behind you must be much stronger than him right?" Bellua's looked at Raven with a mixture of awe and curiosity.
"I bet you're an absolute terror when it comes to fighting then aren't you? Four years is a pretty long time to miss out on training." she asked giving him an inspecting look. "No wonder you don't fight ass many people there aren't many who can stand up to you left around here are there? Plus~ you don't seem the type to wander to other countries just to look for tough people to challenge you." She clapped her hands together. "I'm pretty glad I came here when I left, this is so cool!"
"Well, hopefully they're doing okay," He agreed with a slow nod. He wasn't lucky enough to know his real parents. As far as he knew, they were long dead. Something he'd accepted a long time ago. "I'm sure given time the militant groups will get caught and sorted out. I know I've had to deal with them on occasion during my travels since the fall of the empire."
"Yeah, I am strong," He said with a nod. It wasn't the overconfidence that came from boasting. Raven was just sure, without a doubt, that he was strong. And after what all he'd fought and beat, people who knew couldn't hold it against him too much. Though he could be over confident at times too.
"But I'm sure you'll get stronger one day with enthusiasm like that," He said giving her a grin when she play punched him. "Strong enough to beat Atrum I mean. I dunno about beating me. You'd have to be way beyond Atrum to do that. But... I guess it wouldn't kill me to give you some lessons in the future. Not today though. Today's the kind of day to just relax and maybe drink. And I could certainly think of worse people to be having such a day with."
