Dragon slayers are human children who were raised by dragons, given special training and abilities through ancient dragonic rituals in their childhood. In fiore, several were taken for training in preparation for the coming darkness to Fiore and beyond. With the dragon controlling device neutralized, everyone thought they would have a chance to finally live in peace. It seems, however, that the age of dragon slayers is far from over..
As it turns out, there are far more dragons around the world than people from Fiore once realized. Some created their own types of magic to bestow upon their followers. Others simply kept to themselves and their own kind, unconcerned with the affairs of mortal man.
What many never realized, however, is that more than a few have taken the example of the elder dragons of Fiore, and begun raising their own dragon slayer proteges. Unlike the last generation of dragon slayers, their purpose is clear - they're to bring the influence of their dragons to the rest of the world, fighting even other dragons if need be. They're raised to have little love for other dragon slayers, and their stance on people depends greatly upon the dragon that raised them. Valland is not the only new source of dragon based magic.
Because of the dragon blood that runs through their veins, Dragon slayers essentially seem to stop aging once they hit maturity. After about twenty-five, it is nearly impossible to tell how old one is by looking at them.
Note: Dragon Slayers are immune to their element, and are able to eat said element to gain sustenance and energy.
An ancient order of monster slayers (specifically demons and their ilk), the Devil Slayers are known to take in children and train them in the ways of slaying monsters without fear of being harmed by their specialized element. There are a few known Devil Slayers currently operating in Fiore, though why they've chosen now to turn up... None but they know for sure.
Devil Slayers are immune to their specialty element. In addition, they often wear some form of armor and use gadgets to assist in their monster hunting. Unlike dragon slayers, they can't eat said element to gain strength or sustenance.
Before their fall, some of the greatest minds of recent years engineered a way to steal the essence from the magical residue left over when a dragon slayer used his or her powers. This essence can be put into an extremely rare kind of Lacrima, and when implanted into a human they gain the powers and abilities of a dragon slayer. To date, only one has survived gaining more than one dragon slayer lacrima implant.
Note: Lacrima Dragon Slayers have most of the abilities their full cousins have, though instead of being immune to their element, they are merely highly resistant. Lacrima dragon slayers seem to age as normal, perhaps due to the artificial nature of their abilities. They can still eat their element, gaining energy and sustenance from it.
While humans are the main population in Fiore, and dragons and their kind are legendary, there are rare cases of individuals who do not fit into the human or dragon realm. Within the vein of a fantasy universe, players can create other races for their characters.
Note: Players can only claim one of the non-human character slots. However, this slot does not count towards the others listed above (such as dragon or devil slayers).
