There Bohiko sat, at the trunk of one of the many trees in Magnolia. In his hand was a juice box from which he was sipping aggressively, as he usually did on a hot day as this one. At the moment he was simply taking a break from bothering his guildmates. In no way was he kicked out of the guild hall as a time out for annoying the crap out of everyone, no, he was the one who decided to take the break. Boe sighed as he leaned back onto the tree, protected from the sun's vicious rays due to the large mass of leaves high above him.
It was around this time, noon to be precise, that he would be at Sabertooth. But he wasn't. And he had nothing to do. And he was bored out of his mind. He could go out and actually talk to people, but was he really in the mood to do such a thing? Certainly not. At least, not today. If he thought about it, though, there was no one around for him to give attention to. Why not focus on practicing his jokes? Yeah, that sounds like a great idea. Good job, Kami, good job... he thought with the tiniest of smiles on his face.
"Why did the hipster burn his tongue?" Bohiko said out loud, pausing as if waiting for a reply, "He drank his coffee before it was cool." Following his final sentence was a horrible snicker. "Hey, did you know? When you have a bladder infection, urine trouble..." Another horrible snicker. This was truly something he could do for hours upon hours...without getting his fun ruined by some killjoy guildmates.
Magnolia. It'd been a year since he'd set foot in the bustling city. It had rebuilt quickly after everything that happened. Shadow Heart.... Valland... And the dragon's return. This city saw quite a bit of all of that, and he was glad to see the people rebuilding their lives. It was probably the only reason he could stand within it's boundaries once more.
He adjusted his coat and pushed his sunglasses up the bridge of his nose to make sure they concealed his draconian eyes. Set to his waist hanging horizontally was a long sword, though the blade was clasped in making it difficult to draw at will. The ground crunched softly under his feet as he looked around. Children ran out in the streets laughing and playing as mothers and fathers looked on pleasantly. It was just about everything he'd fought for back then.
Terrible puns however... Those were not. Off to one side was a rather rascally looking kid sitting by the trees. He looked bored, though that much was obvious judging by how he seemed to be practicing terrible puns. Something was strange though, so he focused in on the boy, staring through sunglasses the boy couldn't see back through. The scent was familiar and yet... artificial. Well, he knew he'd never run into this boy before. But there was something familiar about him anyway.
"You know," He finally spoke up, though he made no move to approach the boy. Instead an aloof grin crossed his face. Yes, it was the most depressing place he could be right now, but no one else needed to know that. "You'll never find a girl with jokes like that."
It surprised Bohiko when, with his sensitive ears, he heard someone speaking to him. Not many people bothered to speak with him, and especially not with such a...strange opening statement. His golden eyes scoured the area before stopping on a red-headed male, one who was many inches taller than himself. The man had dark sunglasses placed over his eyes, which was understandable due to how bright it was outside. Boe took one last sip of his juice box before crushing it within his hand. He quickly flashed an eye-smile at the stranger, one that made him look overbearingly nice.
"Who said I was trying to find a girl, sir?" he replied before standing up and onto his feet, "I do believe I've never seen you around town before...What's your name, if you don't mind me asking?" Bohiko kept smiling until his cheeks began to hurt, a normal occurrence for him when he met new people. After all, how else could he get on their good side, then discover what makes them tick? He just had to pay close attention to this stranger's mannerisms, and try piece together their personality. Then, and only then, would he be able to do what he did best. Hopefully he won't drown out what the man says though...he had a bad case of doing that.
Oh? The the response he got was intriguing, if only a little. The boy hadn't been expecting to be spoken to. Though, with puns like that it shouldn't have been that surprising. The scent still bugged him, but he was unable to place his finger on it still. So instead he stared down the smile with one of his own.
"Raven," he responded with a small casual shrug. Then he raised his eyebrow slightly. His introduction was surprisingly well thought out, though again... someone practicing puns probably put a lot of thought into their words. It shouldn't have been as surprising as it was. Raven really needed to check himself later... "It's no surprise you've not seen me around. I haven't been in the Foire area since roughly this time last year. And before that I didn't frequent Magnolia."
Serious. No, laid back? It was laid back. That's what the man's shrug basically told him. "Nice to meet ya, Raven. My name is Bohiko Kaminari, but you can call me Kami." Rather than the bright smile he used in the beginning, a more impish one made a subtle appearance on his features. For once, he told the truth. People really did call him Kami...as a joke. But, it was still a title to use. Besides, some people seemed to not recognize the word's meaning, so it was amusing every once in a while. Hopefully he would be able to get a chuckle out of this meeting.
For a moment, Boe's eyes traveled to the spot behind Raven. In that same spot help an ice cream cart. Ice Cream. If only he had some money left from his previous job, he'd be able to get a creamy vanilla treat...Oh wait, the man was telling him something. "...Cool." he stated simply, his signature forced grin on his face. One the said to those who knew him, "I didn't listen to a word you just said." "So what brings you here today? Out for a summer stroll?" That question seemed a bit idiotic to Bohiko, seeing as it was incredibly hot and he could barely stand being in the sun for a second...but, it was all improvising.
As what usually happened when he improvised, something down the line would happen to benefit him. Sometimes. Hopefully.
Raven stared long and hard at Bohiko before shrugging again. This time with a small sigh. He must have been full of himself if he thought the Flametongue himself would call the boy Kami. Though, the attempt itself was funny, he didn't find it so amusing. Too many had lost their lives because off people who wanted to be called by that as well. However, his face stayed etched into that carefree grin. It was for people like Bohiko he'd fought for in the first place. Harmless jokes should stay harmless.
"Boh it is," Raven gave a small chuckle at this point. Mostly because he was quickly figuring out the kind of person Bohiko was at a glance. There was probably something more deeper down. But that wasn't really his concern at the moment. Instead he looked at Boh when he was asked about why he was out. "...It's been a year since I last came to Magnolia. I came to make sure that my actions then didn't go in vain."
It turned out Raven saw through his little joke! That was a bit upsetting, only a bit. He would of course have more chances later on in their conversation. It was just required that he be a bit more clever with his delivery. Unless this man was far more than what meets the eye? Boe was in no way an idiot, he knew not to mess around with adults far more cunning than himself...unless he had a sure way of fooling them. Unfortunately, this wasn't the case. He'd have to be observant. "Boh works too, I suppose." he responded with a shrug of his own.
However, he tilted his head at Raven's next statement, now intrigued. His words were slightly unnerving. What "actions" was he talking about? And a year ago? There wasn't much Bohiko could recall from that time, except joining the newly established Sabertooth guild. No, wait, there was something more than that. He also remembered Valland's attack on Fiore before joining Sabertooth, although he tried his absolute best to stray away from the chaos. Was that the event Raven was referring to? Or was he looking too deep into this? "I hope you don't mind, but could you tell me just what you mean by that? Why would your actions be in vain?"
