appearance
Mecha Crisis is a humanoid robot with angular features and made of a lightweight but durable metal. His limbs are rectangular and covered by black, folded-cuff boots and gloves. His face is flat and featureless aside from his bronze eyes and the groove between his upper and lower jaws indicating his mouth. His upper torso is trapezoidal, followed by a cylindrical column making up his abdomen and pelvis. The paint job is mostly purple with black stripes down the length of his arms and legs. Being a robot, he doesn’t require clothes, per se, but he wears a black poncho, a black hat with a wide brim, and a purple scarf around his neck.
personality
Metal Crisis is a cold, ruthless machine that speaks with a great deal of snark. He is not fond of living creatures, but won’t outright kill one without a good reason or a direct order. He professes to not having emotions, but simply the ability to fake them (even if its for his own amusement). He is somewhat fatalistic, feeling he is simply carrying out his designated functions until something better comes up, yet pursues his goals megalomaniacally. Metal Crisis acts decisively, taking command in the absence of true leadership (or Ms. Truth). As he desires power, he doesn't willingly give up any if he doesn't think he can get it back just as easily later. As a robot, all his behaviors fall within certain parameters, which don't necessarily comply with any laws unless it is in his best interest to do so. He has little empathy for others, and if he helps anyone it's only to show how pathetic they are (according to him, at least).
history
Sixty years ago magical engineers of the Valland Empire were tasked with building the perfect soldier. Powerful, disposable, and mass-produced, the Combat, Reconnaissance, and Infiltration System (CRISys) was an experimental line of fully autonomous clockwork robots powered by lacrima. They contained various types of lacrima for power, logic, and weaponry, allowing it to cast various pre-installed spells like a holder mage. After fifty-eight years and 514 iterations, the magical engineers had yet to produce a viable prototype. That is, until one of the magical engineers absconded with some dragon lacrima and installed it in the robot’s power system. The resulting robot, CRI-515, was their most successful prototype yet; Stronger, more responsive, and not only intelligent but cunning, learning from and surpassing every living fighter they tested it against where earlier models got confused when their opponent ducked. Unfortunately, Crisis, as he came to be called, came too late to prevent Valland from falling. He was sent into combat as an emergency measure, but he failed to make an impact before Warlord Nox and his dragon-controlling machine were taken out of the picture. No further CRISys units were built and the conflict ceased, but for Crisis the war never ended.
For over a year, Crisis waged a one-robot campaign of terror, vandalism, piracy against the government of Fiore. He quickly rose up the most wanted list, garnering the attention of the Templars and every wizard guild in the country. More importantly, he gained the interest of Truth Ayres and the Red Talons. When he fell into a trap set by the Templars, the Red Talons rescued him from certain destruction. Owing his continued functionality to them, he joined the dark guild as a loyal foot soldier dedicated to their cause.
His most humiliating moment thus far, however, was when he ran into the other Crisis. She was a human legal guild wizard dressed similarly to him but used completely different magic. When they exchanged names she called him “Mecha Crisis,” and despite knowing him longer, the rest of his team followed suit. He found it frustrating that they couldn’t be persuaded into calling her something like “Human Crisis” and that the nickname stuck. Apparently, it had a certain ring to it, and he has been trying to eliminate Crisis since then to get his name back.
Primary Magic
Name: Light Lacrima Dragon Slayer Description: Powered by Dragon Lacrima, Mecha Crisis has the ability “eat” light and illusions for energy, not only to continue functioning but to momentarily amplify his own abilities as well. Unlike “Gen 1” Dragon Slayers, however, he is not completely immune to light-based attacks or illusions, but is still highly resistant to them. Aside from that, his magic is similar to most Dragon Slayers, manifesting mainly as dragon-themed melee attacks infused with light.
Signature Ability
Name: Rocket Fist of the Robot Dragon Element: Light Description: A giant robot staple combined with Dragon Slayer magic. Mecha Crisis’ fist glows with magical light as he launches his entire forearm as a missile. Creates a brilliant explosion of light on contact, then flies back to dock with his arm again.
