Fiore has long had a tradition of wizards joining guilds in for safety, encouragement, and like-minded company. For a long time, there were three recognized guilds - Fairy Tail, Blue Pegasus, and Lamia Scale. Since the fall of the Magic Council and their extremely restrictive regulations, however, three more prominent light guilds have risen.
There are more than just official guilds to be found. In the shadows stand criminal guilds known as the 'Dark Guilds' - Guilds of criminal wizards who often seek to undermine proper society in some way, whether it’s for selfish gain or simply to rebel. GUILDS FAIRY TAIL - One of the two biggest guilds in Fiore, Fairy Tail has long been known for its rambunctious and stubborn wizards and its tendency to leave a trail of destruction in its zeal to pursue life to the fullest.
LAMIA SCALE - The second of the two biggest guilds in Fiore, Lamia Scale saw an explosion in popularity about four years ago. Its guild master took over when the old one retired less than a year ago. It is known for its welcoming and familial atmosphere.
BLUE PEGASUS - Blue Pegasus is the smallest of the three oldest guilds, but it boasts great riches and a brand new guild hall located on the outskirts of Shirotsume Town. Its members are known to be dedicated and honorable.
SABERTOOTH - Fairy Tail's literal closest rival is a new guild that boasts incredibly competitive wizards. Their hall is somewhat small, but as new as they are they have time before they need to upgrade.
MERMAID HEEL - Mermaid Heel holds a certain appeal, especially to the male population. It was founded as an all female wizard's guild, dedicated to the education and support of female wizards throughout Fiore. DARK GUILDS RED BLADES - The Red Blades are a dark guild born from those who didn't wish to stop their old ways when the super guild Shadow Heart crumbled. It is currently run by a young woman by the name of Truth, and its current goals and motivations are a mystery to all but her and those she trusts most.
HAWKS TALONS - The Hawks Talons are somewhat more of a thieves' guild than a wizard's guild. They're a dark guild because they aren't interested in laws or justice, only lining their own pockets. Most members, like any guild, are wizards, though they boast more non-magical members than most. GOVERNMENT TEMPLARS - The Templars are the law enforcement branch of Fiore; they're an organization built to fulfill the purpose of the old Magic Council, but without its reach and autonomy. They're new, but have proven both effective and popular among the people.
