Amber has short, pixie-cut, blonde hair, blue eyes, and is fairly lean. Although not overly masculine in appearance, she tends to be mistaken for a boy more often than not. Wears a green Letterman’s jacket with yellow sleeves and an “A” on the left breast. Under this is a white, button-down shirt, blue jeans, fingerless gloves, and pink, canvas shoes, which is probably the only touch of femininity in the whole ensemble. She does occasionally wear dresses and skirts - and looks damn good in them, too - but it’s a rare event. Even on formal occasions she’s more likely to wear a tux than an evening gown.
personality
Amber is often seen by others as relaxed and charming, if a little reserved. She believes in Murphy’s Law in some degree - that if something can go wrong, it inevitably will, and at the worst possible time - but she also believes that the good eventually balances out the bad. In fact, the worse things get, the more she expects to get something good out of it, even if it’s something small. Make no mistake, she’s no fool. Her short time on the streets as made her skeptical, but the turnaround thereafter has made her hopeful.
Amber always does what she thinks is right, even if it would get her into trouble. If she can, she’ll wait until she has enough information to make a decision, but otherwise she will go with the flow and jump into action. She will not stand for suffering or injustice of any sort, even if it’s the bad guys getting the worst of it.
Amber is generally cautious by nature, preferring to avoid dangerous situations if she can and mitigating the dangers she can’t. Do not mistake this for cowardice, however. She can be very driven when the situation arises, especially when her friends are in trouble. It can take a lot to shake her confidence, but even when her optimism falters she keeps her cool.
Despite her optimism, Amber frequently finds herself grappling with uncertainty, especially in the romance department. She likes hanging out with boys as much as anyone, but hasn’t quite grasped why she isn’t so much interested in them romantically or physically as other girls her age. Suffice it to say, she’s still in the proverbial closet, even to herself. This leaches into other parts of her life as well, but she tries not to let it show or affect her behavior.
history
Amber was a mere infant when her mother fled with her and her brother to escape the violence and destruction in their homeland. One night, they took shelter in a cave, only to discover that it was the lair of the great lightning dragon Umbanikos. The great dragon cared not for the older humans, but something about baby Amber piqued his interest. He told her mother that they may spend the night in his domain, but come morning she must leave the infant behind continue on their way.
The woman refused to sacrifice her infant daughter for her own safety and that of her son. Even when Umbanikos assured her that he intended to raise and protect Amber himself she refused to budge. If anything, she was more resolute. If her daughter was perfect safe here, why not herself and her son? Umbanikos insisted his terms were non-negotiable. Amber’s mother insisted that they were. Umbanikos said he would simply eat her and her son if they did not leave. Amber’s mother said that if he could do that, he would’ve done it already. Umbanikos reminded her that she was in the presence of a greater elemental dragon, and neither his will nor his power would be denied.
Two days later, they began redecorating his cave together. Three months later, they were married. Amber’s brother still thinks it was a weird arrangement, but quite frankly there was no arguing with a woman who could pressure a dragon into marrying her. The two were not privy to Umbanikos’ training of Amber in the ways of the Dragon Slayer, which began while she was still an infant, but her mother was in still charge of her upbringing and education. Raised in a cave or not, Amber was not going to turn out like some kind of Neanderthal.
Primary Magic
Name: Lightning Dragon Slayer Description: Lightning magic formulated by dragons for humans to slay other dragons. The stand-out feature of this magic is the ability to consume electricity, even electrical attacks, both for sustenance and to momentarily refresh and amplify one’s own electrical attacks. Spells are often dragon-themed and focus on melee combat, enhancing physical strikes with electrical energy and considerable force, although there are a few ranged options such as the famous “Dragon Roar” attack.
Signature Ability
Name: Lightning Dragon’s Dancing Blades Element: Lightning Description: Amber channels lightning through her feet and allows it to spiral in the air around her. While this spell is active, Amber’s speed and maneuverability increases dramatically, and her feet can cling to sheer surfaces. Additionally, when she kicks the electricity forms two-foot spikes under her feet. May also be used to parry physical blows.
