Kato has dark tanned skin, from his many years in the sun from a farming nation to the east where he traveled to Fiore from, settling down here in X919 to build a small cafe in Cerulean town. His build is surprisingly athletic and fit, presumably from maintaining his fitness after working in the fields for such a long time. He is lanky and rather lean, rather than large.
His face always wears a smile that can be described as friendly and honest, framed as it is with his long dark chestnut brown hair which he commonly wears in a ponytail. His eyes are always kind, filled with a strange twinkle of hope, but deep with wisdom. He's usually seen within the shop wearing light clothing from his homeland, occasionally he'll wear a dressy undershirt and a pair of shades if expecting to be somewhere fancy that day or its too bright.
When he leaves his shop he wears a bright purple overcoat that he practically swims in, its obviously a well taken care of piece of himself as he seems incapable of leaving it behind, and takes great care of it.

Positive Traits. 1: Loyal: Even if he can be a major jerk to his friends, he is unerringly loyal to those he likes, even if he doesn't trust them. Then again the man doesn't trust his own hands. 2: Trustworthy: As odd as it seems the man who doesn't trust literally anyone, even himself, can be trusted on to do practically anything if asked by his friends and allies. 3: Self reliant: As he doesn't trust anyone, if he thinks its important enough to do, he'll do it himself as the most reliable way to do something, is to do something yourself. 4: Fatherly: Being a semi-elderly fellow, Kato takes it on himself to be the father figure of the younger folks many old guys would call young'ns. However as not to many people know his age, and the fact that he trusts no one enough to embrace them as a young'n, he treats them as if he was your uncle rather than his own, with mild amusement and vague disappointment. 5: Can be kind of a dick, if your his friend, he likes to be kind of a dick to you. That way it makes you a better person in some way. Such as making you fight things to make you stronger, or causing rampant and occasional bar fights outside of his own bar.
Negative traits. 1: TRUST ISSUES: Self Explanatory. 2: Extreme Pragmatism, can be summarized as cold logic, a reasoning such as "I need to stop the robber. I can kill him if I shoot through the hostage" and then shooting the hostage along with the robber would be a good example of Kato reasoning. 3: Subjective morality: Kato can be a moral person if it suits his needs, however the same can be said of the reverse. If it benefits the man in the situation presented to be a monster, then he has no problems with that. 4: Twisted Sense of humor: Kato has a more twisted and sick sense of humor than a practical one, finding enjoyment in outsmarting, or humiliating someone rather than just out of the sure humor of a situation or joke. 5: Kind of a dick: Kato can be a dick to those he likes, as well as those he dislikes, although not oftenly seen. Then again the man doesn't really see people enough to consider them friends, so he tries not to be a major prick.
history
X919 - Kato travels into fiore from the East, sells off most of his trade goods and buys a small two story house within Cerulean town. For the next year seemingly disappears within this house, to open up the first floor as a small cafe known as the "White Pawn Cafe" the small little Cafe becomes well known to the residents of Cerulean town even if its owner is a mystery. Even the guild members of Laima Scale become regular visitors to the place.
X920 - After being closed for near to a week, on family business, Kato returns to celebrate the downfall of Shadow Heart and the Crusaders with the civilians of Cerulean town within his cafe. The small one floor place can barely handle the revels. The Cafe owner lives his life like normal opening his cafe and allowing business to proceed on its normal schedule, closing later in the year to remodel.
X921 - The White Pawn Cafe remains closed for remodeling, many citizens of Cerulean town and members of Lamia Scale help with the currently absent Cafe owners renovations.
X922 - The White Pawn is renamed "Checkmate" and is opened as a full three story cafe/pub with the basement level being the pub opened in the afternoon, and the first floor being the cafe, the top floor is reserved for a two bedroom house for Kato's living quarters. The place is a hit amongst the ciftizens, and draws in many more faces from throughout Fiore both on its reputation and its new size.
X923 - Checkmate acquires its own job board as the place becomes a common spot for all Guild members around Fiore, as well as the Templars themselves as Kato is always willing to help them with information when they come through. This love for helping those around him is also spread to the three new guilds whose members will occasionally visit for jobs sponsored by the man.
X924 - Current year.
Primary Magic
Name: Requip: The Ghost of Fiore Description: While not normally used anymore Kato does retain his old Requip Magic, however he ditched all of his old gear except for his old Seeker armor. Knowing that someday a friend of his may access the old "Locker" of his for the gear within. He maintains a small collection of new gear, however normally doesnt need it in his new quiet lifestyle.
Signature Ability
Name: Perfect Disguise. Element: None. Description: Kato has established such a fine control over his requip magic that he is actually capable of equipping or removing a disguise literally on the fly in a matter of seconds. This disguise can range wildly however covers all of his bases, from skin tone, hair color ranging from wigs to actual hair dye, eye color via the use of contact lenses, clothes that differ from male or female, and even covers up and disguises his natural smell due to stored perfumes and colognes, to prepared tools meant to disguise smell.
This level of control with his Requip magic isn't limited to this, as he prides himself on his mastery over this magic, as its all he is capable of, however it is terrifying.
Secret History
Katos' or more accurately "Nines'" history is deep, long and complex. Normally you won't find someone his age still active in the magic community, most retire by the time they're 40. However Nines has been going since he was a kid. Born in Western fiore as Matthew Evercross, his father was a dark mage, banished from the west due to his study of artificial life, and the means to resurrect the dead and prevent the death of himself or others. He was born to a family of three siblings, his older twin brother, and his younger sister. Each of them were loved by their mother in their own way, however his older brother Mattaesyn, had a bit of a violence issue to himself. His sister however was peaceful and loved everything she came in contact with, feeling all of life should be loved equally. It wasn't long before their father took more of a liking to their older brother, violent tendencies came naturally to that one.
Shortly after the three of them reached maturity their mother died, a tragic event for the two younger siblings. Nines approached his father one day, in an attempt to find out what he was doing, only to be attacked by his brother with their fathers experimental weapons. The two weapons broke, and the resulting conflict almost left Nines himself dead. His sister healing him, and the two of them fleeing to central Fiore. Where the two of them built separate lives for each other. Nines joined the magic council, easily becoming one of the most fear Seekers Fiore would ever have. And meeting the future hero of Fiore, Cornelius Argon. The two of them became friends, and Argon eventually would go to Marry his sister and build a family with his two Daughters, Kotone would would be lost and raised to become the ice Dragon Slayer all of Fiore knows, and Charlotte Argon, one of many leaders of the Loyalists.
However in the year X910 Nines would go to chase down his murderous brother, now the leader of a guild named "Shadow Heart". This was also the year the dragons would go mission, leading some theorists to believe that it was "The Ghost of the Council" who many would theorize "Nines" was, who killed them all, this theory would be disproven later when the Dragons would return for the war, to claim the last member of Nines' family, Argon in the year X922.
Nines wouldn't return until the year x919, the year when the Magic Council started to make mistakes. Ironically the death of Mattaesyn would cause an opening for power within Shadow Heart, allowing The Shadow Lord to take control of the Dark Guild. Nines took his first Apprentice Toril Tempest shortly after the Magic council named him their "Ghost" and proclaimed Matthew Evercross KIA.
During the Magic Councils reign Nines discovering plans to stage a coup, warned the higher powers of the council of its existence, and then single handedly launched it early himself by killing the messenger and taking his place. This maneuver both secured the existence of the loyalists, as well as threw the crusaders into disarray. Nines was also the owner of the tunnel that allowed the loyalists to large escape the coup itself.
For the first couple of Months Nines led the Loyalists effort himself, hidden within the worth woodsea, solidifying himself as an important figure within Fiores history, when the Loyalists would eventually go on to establish the Fiorian Democratic Government in X922 after the fall of the crusaders to Shadow Heart. During the crusader reign Nines, giving his position of power to the two Argons, was responsible for many strategic strikes against their forces, and the survival of many of the Loyalists supply lines, both by combat and espionage. After the Crusaders were absorbed into the Shadow Heart conglomerate Nines would join Fiores heros to lay siege to the shadow lord, taking it upon himself to train Atrum Furea, a longtime friend of his, as well as Toril.
During the siege Nines went after longtime Crusader super power, the mentalist behind the Coup itself as well as all those who swore any kind of allegiance to her. Killing them all as treasonous backstabbers and traitors to the throne himself. Shortly afterwards there was an intense magical event, that pulled him from the battle with the shadow lord into the woodsea, witnessing the death or disappearance of Atrum Furea.
X921 - Nines warns Fiore about the movements of Vallands military, then disappears into vallish territory. He would then be reported to causing civil unrest, as well as immense single handed assaults against the vallish super power under the guise of "The Ghost of the Council". Personally striking against Vallands own information network via his own espionage tactics. Becoming a Vallish horror story known as "The Phantom of Fiore"
X922 - Nines assists in the building of the Fiorian Democratic Government, as well as the training of many of the future "Templars" successors to the soon to be disbanded Magic Council. The first to step down from any seat of power, he then demanded to be put on trial for war crimes and engaging in treason against the crown, announcing his identity as "The Ghost of the Council" and admitting to causing the Coupe itself, as well as the deaths of an uncountable number of men, women, and children. He refused to accept any leniency and was promptly executed via the separation of his head from his body, and in accordance with his last wishes, his body was Defenestrated, then cremated, while his head was tossed into the ocean.
X922 - Nox releases his Dragon army and controlling weapon against Fiore, a "Ghost of Fiore" leaks the devices location to the Fiorian resistance via subtle messages. Whether this was the reason for the device's eventual destruction or not, none can say.
X923 - "The Ghost of Fiore" would become an urban myth and legend as his death caused the disappearances of eighteen separate unrelated individuals, several of which lived in fiore, and several of which lived throughout Earthland. The only thing in common was their disappearance date, along with their last day seen, and a strange cryptic carving of a symbol with the number 9 within a circle within their homes or belongings. Many historians try to cover all of the holes in the man's history trying to track down where he came from and what he was. Establishing a list of those that disappeared and figuring out an possible list of known identities almost certainly used by the "Ghost of the Council" from these names, note this is the possible list of identities the person known as "The Ghost of Fiore" may have used, not a complete list of those missing since his time of death.
Matthew Evercross - Confirmed KIA body recovered in X919. - Medical records determine cause of death unknown, body is unexaminable due to intensive burn wounds and all teeth being removed from skull. - Former Council members claim was "Ghost of the council" Nikolas Krossley.
Nikolas "Nines" Krossley - Confirmed "Ghost of the Council" - Executed X922. Body Defenstrated, then cremated, skull thrown into the ocean.
Thomas Encarna - Shadow Heart Member and private Doctor - missing since X920 the siege against shadow heart. However many of his belongings were claimed from one of Krossley's safe houses, presumably dumped without second thought in a rush, and its believed to be that they are one and the same. The safe house was apparently never returned to, presumably watched.
Drago Trenden - Vallish Assassin - Whether this is actually an alias, and error, or the same person, Drago is confirmed to no longer be missing, having a residence in fiore and living peacefully amongst its people. Assassin unconfirmed, continued to be observed. No suspicious behavior since X922 observation suspended until further notice.
Dianna Ashlynn Naeneal-De-La’Crux. - Fiorian resident - recorded born X903 - Would make her 21 as of this year. As she was a hunter and trapper of the worth woodsea, her disappearance wasn't noticed until much later, no body recovered.
Kayos Harbinger: - Former member of the Magic Council renegade group known as the Crusaders - Archivist position, was responsible for the rebuilding of the Council, now templar, Archives. As well as its maintenance until the fall of the crusaders in X920. No body was ever recovered or found. Presumed KIA via the Council Records by councilman Ira Woede during siege.
