Four years ago, the guilds attacked Shadow Heart, destroying them along with their leader, the enigmatic Shadow Lord. The attack was successful, but not without its consequences. The Shadow Lord had a plan for everything, and that included his defeat. Upon his defeat, he attempted to activate a spell lacrima he had stored for many years - one that would destroy everyone there who had been brave enough to try and stop him. The device malfunctioned, however, and instead most people were spared. The rest vanished without a trace, as if they no longer existed.
The world kept going as it always does. Over the next four years, a series of epic events occurred. Thanks to the efforts of the remaining heroes, Fiore survived. Its people had changed, desiring peace and understanding between everyone. They disbanded the remaining Magic Council, erecting a new government in its place - the Council of Fiore, along with its sister police force, the Templars. The Council had representatives from all the guilds, including the newer ones that had started to spring up after the overbearing Magic Council was disbanded.
Fiore has finally entered an era of relative peace. There are no empires waiting for another chance to strike, no secret organizations with the strength of an army, and no corrupt councilmen waiting for their chance to take Fiore for their own. Everything is new... though they still have a long way to go.
Now, the time displacement spell has shown up again, this time dropping off those that had been swept away all those years ago. Before them stands a world that looks nothing like the one they left. What does this mean for them and the new Fiore? Only time will tell.
