Razhiel wasn’t sure what else to say in the conversation or to Krisa at all. She could feel the animosity. With a sigh she thought how tedious it all was and not for the first time rethought what she was doing here. Fiore. Raven. Civilization. She was brought out of her thoughts by Krisa’s remark about finding a place to stop for the night. Glancing at the sky visible between the trees she could tell dusk was settling in. The creatures of flight that had been active during the day began to wind down. It was quieter than earlier.
Agreeing, she looked around and stated, “If you are looking for a place near water, there sounds to be a stream about twenty yards up and to the right.” That is where Razhiel would go, if only because water was an essential. Maybe tomorrow would go a bit better. She glanced up once more at the sky wondering what tomorrow’s walk will bring.
The girl nodded to Raz's comment about water. "That seems to be nice," was all she said, and then changed her path to follow the other mage's directions. It seemed that although neither girl particularly wanted to stop for the night, they both realized that they had to. It really was getting dark, and nothing would be accomplished by wandering around and perhaps taking the wrong path or veering off of it altogether. When Rena got to a place that she deemed appropriate, some what near the stream but not so close that it could be dangerous, she slid the rolled up tent and other travelling necessities off of her shoulder.
Rena completely ignored Raz as she set up the tent, as well as her own sleeping area. The said shelter was more than large enough for two people, and she assumed that Raz would sleep inside with her. She could always ask, and if she chose not to and assumed that she wasn't permitted to, Rena might end up telling the woman. But she was sure that she was practical enough to realize it wasn't a good idea to sleep outside in woods like these. Ignoring everything around her for the most part, Rena slipped inside the tent and quickly fell asleep.
Razhiel approved of the place they stopped. It wasn’t too near the stream to attract unwanted attention from other people and monsters. When Rena began to set up the tent while seemingly ignoring her, Razhiel left to go to the stream. The moon had risen and like most places of water, the trees were far back enough that she could see it. She wondered for a moment if he were somewhere close staring at the same moon as she. Cupping water in her hands she began to rinse out her hair and wipe her neck and face. The stream was cool, enough so it helped with the day’s long walk. Drinking her fill, she glanced around. The silvery light of the moon gave everything it touched an almost powdery glow. The night time insects chirped, a bird took flight, the bushes rattled as a mousehare hopped out. No matter what happened, life went on.
Quietly walking back without disturbing the natural noise around her, she slipped into the tent. Rena was already asleep. Laying on her belly, head on her arm, she fell into a light sleep.
Rena woke up in the middle of the night, her breathing still slow and deep. Her body hadn't even moved, and the only sign that she was awake was the slight twitch of her face as the girl's eyes opened. They veered over to glance at Raz before closing, and Rena pondered whether it would be a good idea to leave right now. The dancer could just leave the map, and most of her supplies here, then travel to Dawn City during the night, pick up the... well, thing, probably described that object, and then she could make her way back through the forest far enough that Raz wouldn't be able to find her. Only... it wasn't very long now to Dawn City, and the woman seemed to be confident in her abilities. Rena wasn't interested in getting electrocuted to a crisp by lightning, but she also felt distinctly uncomfortable around the stranger.
That was why she had woken up, after all. Rena never dreamed, or did she have nightmares, ever since many years ago. But funnily, the girl was usually always aware during her sleep. It was still a deep one, and she slept peacefully-- but typically could also wake up at will. The girl shifted around a little bit, trying to see whether Raz would react, then closed her eyes and quickly fell fast asleep again, deciding to forget about it. Dawn City could wait a few more hours-- Rena decided that she would just go along with the woman for now. They could always part ways if the uncomfortable feeling grew.
Razhiel’s breathing was slow and deep, her arm thrown over her eyes as if to keep the light out though the darkness around them was almost impenetrable except for the slight dusting of moonlight. Though she had nightmares or flashbacks of dramatic memories, most often when in the presence of another, her sleep went undisturbed, almost as if her subconscious was alert. Though Krisa had awoken and even shifted around, Razhiel gave no outward sign of waking up. It seemed the woman was asleep. For the most part, she was. Had there been malevolent intentions towards Razhiel’s person it would have been quite different.
With the predawn light the birds of the woods began their worshipping chants of the start of a new day. They were quite loud but the sounds were normal in the woods as animals dominated the land rather than humans. Razhiel stretched before opening her eyes to greet the day. They would get to Dawn City today and part ways probably sooner rather than later. Razhiel figured she would stop in a few places at Dawn City before heading South and continuing her search. She looked over to see if Krisa was awake, quiet in her movements in care the girl was still asleep.
