Slayer of Monsters- both human and non-human alike
appearance
Her two most notable features is her fiery hair and her piercing violet eyes. Current hair style is a pixie cut, very short, simple. Originally to help divert attention from those seeking the former princess of Valland. No matter what her hair style, it could not disguise the regal way in which she holds herself nor the stubborn set of her chin as she holds her head high. She has an angular facial structure with a flawless complexion and light skin tone no matter how often the sun touches it. After her three year disappearance, she is much leaner, her body pure muscle. Her face sharper than before. Most times she has a whip coiled at her waist. This whip is special in that it has a silver core throughout, the tip of the whip is a silver barb. Clothing varies, but often times she has knee high black boots, slim dark jeans, and a colored sleeveless shirt. Her most note-able attire is the leather jacket she almost always wears. The back of which is embroidered with a red dragon, wings spread, jaw wide, flames spewing, flying through lightning. She has some tattoos- of which have significant meaning and power of their own. Positive Traits Strong Willed Determined Compassionate- to children at least Observant Diligent Humorous
Negative Traits Stubborn Daring/Risk taker Hot Tempered- Figuratively and literally Regal Attitude/Haughty Aggressive
Razhiel is a complex creature, a mix between royal ex-princess and honorable warrior. She is a listener first and outspoken second. But do not let her quiet, and often temporary, demeanor fool you for she is very direct when her silence has ended. Razhiel is the type to look you straight in the eyes, whether it is rude or not, because she is dominant in nature. It is also how she approaches her battles. Fearless in the face of death not because of arrogance but because of her slayer upbringing. Razhiel was taught death was just the end of the beginning and it was her life’s mission to fight that which others could not. She would face death with a smile and not cower knowing her entire being denied death the fear it so often received. Her head is always held high. Skilled in combat, she does not boast- her opinion being those that need to speak of their skill often times have only the skill of a large ego.
Careful in social situations, friends do not come by easily. Having to juggle political consequences in most social situations has led to Razhiel seeming distant. Due to the fall of the empire and enemies still in search of her, she is constantly wary. When she does let her guard down, even a little, she can be quite humorous. A honest smile transforms her entire being.
She is driven, which can at times make her demeanor very intense.
With a separate entity sharing her body, though dormant for the most part, can affect her current mood.
history
Like all men in powerful positions, the Emperor Takashi IV of Valland never let opportunities to acquire more power go past. His daughter was no exception to this rule. But she would not learn of this until years past.
The wife of the Emperor was a beautiful woman. But beauty could not save her and her reign was very much short lived. Not long after marrying, she became pregnant. It is said she died during child birth. There are no pictures of this short lived Empress. The memory of her was hazy to those who remember the beautiful wife. The only legacy left of her is her name, Ann, and the supposed daughter she left behind. Times being as they were and the Emperor having no other heir, he sent his infant daughter to the northern outskirts of Valland for her protection. Not more than that is known of the princess’ whereabouts during this time. The people of the empire accepted the mourning of their imperial highness and soon the little princess was but a wisp on the wind. Those that sought the princess for nefarious means were met with frustration as all trace of her vanished.
The first ten years of Razhiel’s life were s pent in a secretive town in the northern outer reaches of the Valland Empire. The town, called Banish, was nestled within the Vallus Mountains, which were a part of a recent territory acquisition. She was left under the guardianship of a raven haired, violet eyed beauty named Lily; the very same woman who had brought the princess to the town without a trace. Over the years she earned the nickname Lily the Lethal from the Princess, much to her displeasure.
Banish was a warrior town; secretive unless you were in the fold. It was inhabited by those warriors and their families founded on strict principles, a fighter’s foundation, and maintained by their way of life.
Within those ten years Razhiel grew, learned, and became lethal in her own right. Her magic made itself known when she was five. It involved a much surprised cat, a half eaten tuna fish sandwich, and resulted in singed fur and a healthy respect for emotional control. Her training changed after that. Not only did it include the necessary teaches to become a fighter of exceptional talent, it now included magic control and the induction to a very secret organization. The organization was one of the branches strictly dedicated to Devil Slayers. This branch was called Daemon Bane. It was a secret within a secret. This branch was small and its base was located underneath the town. Only those entrusted with generations of knowledge, known as the librarians, the tutors, the trainers, the slayers, and the pupils knew of its location and the specifics of its existence.
Lily controlled the same element as Razhiel. She went from being a guardian to being a guardian and teacher. Lily was a devil slayer, her family legacy as Devil Slayers dated back generations. Her ancestors were some of the first to dedicate their lives to eradicating monsters and their ilk from this world.
When Razhiel turned ten, her father requested her presence within the capital once more. Lily brought her back to the capital in the same traceless and quiet manner when she spirited the princess away. Accompanying them was one of Razhiel’s peers, sixteen year old Kan, whom Lily stated would be acting bodyguard until further notice and help continue her studies and training since Lily would not be staying. Her return to the capital was a quiet affair. The relationship with her father could be summarized by their first meeting. Walking into the throne room, Razhiel kneeled at the beginning of the steps with her head bowed and ‘My Emperor’ escaping between her lips. Before the last word left her lips she was enveloped in the arms of the Emperor. His words in her ear, ‘I am your father dear daughter of mine. You are more beautiful than a fiery sunset on the clearest of days.’ Thus began her tutelage as a crowned princess of the enormous empire.
Her striking resemblance to the Emperor and royal bearing had her name on the peoples’ lips. As the years went by it was her inquisitive nature and honest curiosity that had them cheering her name. When she turned fifteen, Razhiel began traveling within the Empire. The people of the capital knew her by name and sight. Her inquisitive nature and kindness became renowned as she learned the lives of her people and gained countless skills as she worked beside them.
While her father was aware of her abilities, he did not understand how fine her control was nor the potential she presented. He had never asked her to use her abilities. One early evening would find them on a hunt through the mock forest made specifically for his Imperial Highness. On horseback, an arrow was stealthily aimed at the Emperor’s back. The guards shouted a warning, in which he turned around in his saddle. It would have been disaster had Razhiel not acted off instinct. She swiftly lifted her armoured fingers, a barely perceptible flash of light, a hiss, and the arrow fell to the ground, cut cleanly in two with singed ends. Before the arrow even began to drop, she was galloping towards the point of projectory. Jumping from the horse’s back she touched her fingertips together and separated her hands vertically. An arc of light stretched between them. With a thought, branches of lightning speared from that arc and hit various points on the tree before her. There was a crash, and a middle aged man dressed in various greens fell from tree. Violet eyes stormy Razhiel approached the cursing man and laid a palm against his cheek. The man fell silent, Razhiel asked who sent him and he began to reply with a screw your ladyship. Before he could finish his sentence his eyes rolled in the back of his head and he began to convulse. It stopped mere seconds after it began. Razhiel asked again and he refused once more. The third time she asked, he gave her an answer. Thus began her training within the military and interrogation.
Between the age of seventeen and nineteen she was sent with various military figures to acquire new territories. She was sent on scouting missions. Her abilities an asset as it allowed the incapacitation of enemies without killing and was invaluable in information gathering. Her reputation became a mix of adoration and abhoration. A close call which ended in Kan taking an arrow to the shoulder sent her back to the capital. Being in the capital again allowed her to breath deeply once more, the fighting and terror had begun to wear on her though she only admitted that to Kan.
During her last months in the capital she traveled more throughout it. Re-establishing old ties and making new ones. A game of chess between Asal and her in an old tavern was one such occasion in which she met a new friend. Razhiel had stopped mid move when the stranger walked in, his hair a similar fiery color as hers though it was hidden currently as it would not be sightly for the princess to be seen in such a place with such company. Though, those who mattered knew of it anyways. Asal pushed her hand and Razhiel smirked when she realized she was staring. Asal raised an eyebrow and she smiled and shrugged in reply. The stranger in question put a coin on the table stating ‘I’ll play the winner,’ before walking towards the bar. Asal assumed a very calculating expression, Razhiel replied with ‘No you don’t old man.’ It was the best game they had ever played, though he would never admit it Asal let her corner him as to win the game. She introduced herself as Raz, she was no princess in this place and that is how Razhiel came to meet Raven Flametongue. He had traveled hard miles to enter enemy territory in the hopes of stopping the coming war, all for the sake of his people. They spent time together over the next couple of weeks, with her both as Raz, street rat, and Princess Razhiel. She had talked her father into meeting with the flame haired man to talk about the peace treaty when she received disheartening news.
Kan received word that Lily was killed in action. With the upcoming war with Fiore, Razhiel expected her father to deny her request of leaving but instead is met with a very somber emperor and permission to take as much time as she needs. Razhiel left to pay her respects. Once there, after having paid her respects, she was given a letter that Lily wrote herself should she die. Reading it Razhiel found out that Lily is in fact her mother. The Emperor purposely made everyone believe she was the daughter of Ann. Reasons unknown. Having read the letter Razhiel planned to leave immediately to confront her father when she is stopped by Kan, who still accompanied her everywhere. Kan tells her that by the time she reaches the Emperor she will not be able to talk to him as he will be dead. He continues, saying it would be foolish for her to go into the capital since she has enemies, old and new and they will take advantage. She pushed him away and prepares to jump on her horse when Kan grabs her arm and states ‘Your mother would have told you to control your emotions and think for a solution in clarity… At the very least let me grab my horse.’ Feeling betrayed, she grabs the hand that grabbed her and lets the current flow through her and into him. Letting go, he falls to the ground, momentarily paralyzed. ‘I release you from the duty my mother designated you. I am no longer your concern.’ With those parting words she takes off in lieu of the capital.
Despite harsh riding, Razhiel arrives too late. Having given that thought possibility she changed her clothes in a town where women wore cowls around their heads and faces. Razhiel learned of her father’s assasination and the bounty on her own head. Most of those who were truly loyal to her father had perished. Approaching Asal, the King of thieves, as she jokingly referred to him as, she was told that her number of supporters were spread too thin and it would be safer for her to leave the capital. The empire was already disbanding into new territories and the armies had fallen under the control of those more powerful families that claimed their province for their own. The King of Thieves was actually the man in charge of the black market within the capital. There had been a high bounty for his arrest when the Emperor had been alive. They had become friends during her years in the capital. Being in such a position, he was aware of a lot of happenings in ‘his city’ as he referred to it. Razhiel gave him the Empress Ann’s ring which she wore on her right middle finger in exchange for the information of what happened while she was away and who was responsible for the death of her father.
Razhiel left the capital only to return to her mother’s people in the North. Once out of the capital she turned to look at her former home. ‘There lies Razhiel LilyAnn Takashi.’ She whispers to the wind, shaking her head as she realizes her father’s audacity in her middle name. On her way North she swore that if she saw Kan she would leave and find her own way but surprisingly he left shortly after she had when she returned to the capital and has not been seen since.
She spent the next three years honing her skills as a Devil Slayer and immersing herself in the culture that is her people.
During the three years Razhiel spent with her mother’s people and in a way went ‘dark,’ she underwent the final stages of becoming a full fledged Devil Slayer according to the Demons Bane path. The final stage being a ceremony that consists of multiple steps. The ceremony performed is called Soul Convergence. It is the merging of a summoned spirit and the Devil Slayer. High mortality rate, few undergo the process opting to be a high warrior of Bane instead. Similar to two entities sharing the same body, even if the merge is successful there can be a range of complications including behavior changes, black outs, loss of control, mental instability. Completing vigorous tests, the Librarians told Razhiel ‘You will do, if only because you are stubborn enough that you would exasperate the spirit into submission.’ The more in control the person is of the spirit, the more the spirit becomes a part of the user. The less control they have, the more the personality and will of the spirit presses upon the user.Worst case the spirit takes over the body. If the transition between spirit and slayer is successful, once controlled the Devil Slayer will have access to the spirits powers/abilities. Generally, the spirit is dormant unless called upon by the Slayer, this would indicate full control. If full control is not yet attained, certain conditions must be met to bring about the emergence of the spirit. These conditions include life or death situations and/or extreme emotion. Once a spirit is merged with a user, the only option out is death.
The tattoos upon Razhiel’s body are significant to the spirit’s abilities within her. Each tattoo is a step to the full manifestation of the spirit within Razhiel. When activated, the tattoos blaze white tinged blue similar to lightning. With each ability in effect, her eye color lighten.
Spirit- The elders summoned forth a spirit by the name of Fera Angelus. The time of her being unknown. Much about her is unknown besides the fact that she was a winged woman whose craft lay in nature. She had a wolf-like familiar. Her magic varied from communion with animals, with the ability to mind control beasts, to instant growth of plant life. Once merged the combination between the spirit’s abilities and Razhiel’s has led to lightning abilities otherwise not achievable.
Having lived in Banish for three years, she took her leave. Upon leaving, the Oracle- a woman whose skin is like that of a raisin, both in color and texture- gave her a parting gift. A leather jacket embroidered with a fire dragon, wings spread, jaw agape in a lightning storm. The old woman said nothing. Razhiel is coming to believe it was more than just a parting gift.
Her destination- Fiore the unconquerable and ultimately the death of her father.
Spirit
Fera Angelus- A name given to her by the people who survived the encounter. Nature Dragon- Abilities range widely and will not come into play until Razhiel gains more control.
Razhiel's Abilities derived from the Spirit:
Wrist Tattoo- Sword activation- Diabolus Fulgur Gladium. A sword made purely of lightning energy appears, completely solid. It is sharp, will not shatter, and will burn through what it touches.
Arm Tattoo- Fulgur Lupus A canine form made of lightning appears. Acts independently of Razhiel. Can attack, dodge, distract. It howls thunder. When injured enough, it breaks into pixels and disappears, ‘returning’ to Razhiel.
Back Tattoo- Wings of Light activation- Wings of lightning energy emerge from her back, a span of 12 feet. The wings had a multiple set of purpose. It allows for flight. They can be used as a shield, for her own body as well as another if embraced by her. The light from the wings purges the darkness.
Chest Tattoo- Final activation indicating a full merge. Lightning sword, Wings of Light, and a body which shines with an arcane light tinged in blue. Her form can transform into pure lighting, a lightning bolt. This allows for almost instantaneous movement. Her form becomes incorporeal at will, making physical and magical attacks nearly harmless. She can cover distances rapidly. Reflexes are enhanced greatly, her speed phenomenal in this state.
Having been a merged with the spirit for only a short period of time, her control of the spirit is tenuous at best. She is unable to call upon the abilities at will, they are only accessible through the certain conditions having been met until she gains more control.
Primary Magic
Name: Lightning Devil Slayer Magic Description: Lightning is a complex beast. There is a multitude of variations in the use and the components. It can strike hard and fast. It can burn or create shock waves that are deafening. The charged ions create a blinding flash which can be used as a deadly distraction. It can linger and torment, leaving one wishing for death. Paralysis and stun are often time side effects to targets creating great peril. A more offensive magic, she relies on her instincts and counter attacks for defense. Defensive magic has limited range and is mainly effective in close combat with non magical entities. In her most potent form, Razhiel’s entire body becomes a conduit for lightning. Sparks/branches race along her body, charging the air around her. Once released lighting shoots in all direction, branching towards each other creating an inescapable circumference.
The core of Lightning reaching temps hotter than the sun, gives Razhiel immunity to Lightning and a certain resistance to heat.
Spirit- Ferus Angelus and her abilities listed above.
As control is obtained, her power base will expand.
Magic aside, her devil slayer training and heritage has graced her with enhanced senses and strength of arms. Faster reflexes gives her an added edge while battling various monsters, human and otherwise. Her sense of smell and reaction time the sharpest of all her senses.
Signature Ability
Name: Core Mortem Element: Lightning Description: This ability, which ends in the targets cardiac arrest, gained Razhiel’s deadly reputation to the newly acquired territories in her later years. Razhiel’s skin must come into contact with the target’s. With an intense concentration of lightning magic, she can stop the target’s heart. Difficulties associated with this ability is the need for skin to skin contact and the high amount of concentration and control it takes to employ this ability. Control is something she is very good at. It is not limited to one target. Though the more targets, the more concentration, and the more of a magic drain as each target would need a concentrated ‘jolt.’
