appearance
Tempestus is a very tall man of smaller build. Streamlined and wiry, his body is obviously built for speed ore than physical strength. That isn't to say he is weak, just that physical strength will never be his forte. His skin is a slightly tanned color, though still relatively pale in comparison to others. He stands out relatively well in a crowd due to his blond hair.
His chosen style of clothing also meets an odd standard. He wears a deep navy blue sleeveless jacket that he keeps unzipped to show off his bare chest, wearing finger-less gloves over his hands. around his left arm, he has wrapped his upper arm in bandages. Around his head he wears a simple black cloth tied at the back of his head to keep his hair out of his eyes. His trousers are a simple pair of black pants, with his right thigh also wrapped in bandages.
personality
Coming from the future, Tempestus finds it difficult to fit in with the rest of the world. He prefers to be a loner, sticking to himself as often as he can. He struggles to create bonds with other people, knowing that his only goal is to get back to his own timeline. He is motivated and driven, able to push himself further than most others and is willing to do whatever it takes, to achieve his goals, no matter the cost. He is an extremely intelligent young man, having mastered the theoretical part of rune magic.
He is a sarcastic and callous person, with a metric ton of courage to his name and a heart caring only for his own timeline. He has a soft spot for women and children but will not go out of his way to help anybody unless he benefits from it.
history
Originally born in the year x999, Tempestus grew up in a time of change. Legendary mages from the past age were the leaders of Fiore and the guilds, having grown old and weary. Many of the mages present in x924 were dead or dying, with the only exceptions being the Slayer type mages that had survived until old age. The ways of x999 would be far different than the previous age. Caster type magic was on the decline in favor of the Holder type magical items that had been improved over time.
In an age where Holder mages dominated the world, Tempestus wanted to prove that Caster magic could still be just as powerful, if not even more so. Born as the child of two mundane parents, his magical power came as a shock to his parents, who had him sent to a school that specialized in teaching young children to use and control magic, sort of like a guild for young children.
At this "Pre-Guild" Tempestus found his true calling in Rune Magic, capable of inscribing runes on any surface using only his magical power. Delving into Rune Magic came naturally, quickly mastering the theoretical portion of his magic by the age of 20, a very impressive achievement for one so young. He excelled at using his Magic quickly and efficiently in combat, capable of tagging opponents with runes and activating them before they were noticed.
He was also particularly interested in time and space altering runes, with one of his first creations being a teleportation rune. This fixation with time and space came to be what sent him to x924 in the first place. In his attempts to create a rune that would allow him to see the past with his own two eyes, without interacting with it at all, he was interrupted during the process before he could cut off the spell. Grabbed during the spell by his friend and partner, Cole Steele, the two were catapulted through time and dropped off during the battle against Nox.
Cole had been mortally wounded during the travel, only the top half of his body having been inside the magical circle before they were sent through time, and sadly died almost immediately after reaching the past. With no time to grieve, Tempestus threw himself into action, slapping paralysis seals on as many of the dragons as he could whilst retaining power over them. He had enough power to restrain over 15 dragons for the entirety of the battle, upon the end of which were sent back to their own timelines.
Tempestus was trapped in the past however, a specter with no record of his existence. He didn't exist and it had to remain that way in order to keep the timeline in order. One wrong move could erase him from existence....
Unless time travel operated through multiverse theory...
Primary Magic
Name: Rune Inscription Magic Description: Tempestus can inscribe runes onto any surface large enough using only his magical power as a catalyst. This allows him to use rune magic quickly and effectively in battle. Rune magic is nigh limitless in its abilities, even able to bend the rule of physics slightly. With the right runes, a mage can use any kind of magic he can think of, be it: Fire magic or gravity control. The real problem with rune magic is that it requires massive amounts of concentration, practice and knowledge in equal amounts. Runes that have a continuous effect must be concentrated on for the user to keep the effects activated, though this has no real drain on the users magical power. Even a "Master" of rune magic can never truly perfect the art. Many runes exist already and some mages create their own to cause their own effects. A rune mage must understand and know exactly what it is a rune will do, and learning the magic takes years and years of theoretical work. It isn't a magic one can simply pick up after a few practice sessions.
Signature Ability
Name: Linear Rune Element: N/A Description: A rune of Tempestus' own design, the Linear Rune is a large, circular rune that is designed to teleport the user directly to it. The user must be looking at or near the rune, which will glow red brightly for a second before the teleportation occurs. Tempestus can place and control a maximum of 20 of these runes at once, able to teleport back and forth between them at rapid speeds. The user can also carry items or people they are touching with them as they teleport, though inexperienced users often feel nauseous after teleporting. The linear tune can also be recoded to allow another mage to use it if they are skilled enough to recode it or if Tempestus allows it.
