"Thanks I guess," He responded at first as he stayed focused on the little girl. He folded his arms against his chest and resisted rolling his eyes. Pyrrha as his sister? No thanks. He had enough problems on his plate. Though, since she seemed rather happy about the whole chocolate thing, he'd have to remember to carry some in case he ran into her again. Having something to appease her when she got riled up would be handy to have. "She's not my sister no."
"But she's still a pain in the butt like one," Hawke continued with a sigh as Pyrrha stuck out her tongue at him. Yeah... Definitely a brat. Oh well. At least she wasn't upset like last time. That'd just make things worse. At least like this, he could get some words in. He knelt down in front of the girl so he was at eye level with her. "So here's your chocolate. Don't eat it all at once."
"I won't!" She happily took the bag, and pulled out a piece of chocolate. The girl unwrapped it and popped it in her mouth before humming. After eating it her eyes finally locked on Bloo. She stared long and hard at the drake before moving to poke him. "What's that? I've never seen a cat like that before!"

"What? I am not!" Pyrrha stuck her tongue out more determinedly at Hawke, squeezing her eyes shut for emphasis. "I'll have you know I'm only a pain in the butt to people who are being jerks." Pyrrha huffed, nibbling on her chocolate again as she turned partially away from Hawke. She wasn't *that* upset, but her immaturity did show there.
She stopped when the girl pointed out Bloo, who puffed up slightly when she asked what he was, but then deflated again when she assumed he was a cat. What sort of cat had majestic crystalline scales?! Pyrrha grinned at the girl, coming out of her bratty shell as she giggled. "This is Bloo. He's not a cat, he's a drake... he's like... a tiny dragon." She quickly added the next part as she remembered the country's view of dragons. "He's really nice! He's kind of like a fourth brother. He's also a lot smarter than a cat."
Bloo nodded "Mrrr" he agreed, climbing down Pyrrha's outstretched arm to rest on her wrist and sniff at the little girl. "Mrph!" he seemed to approve of her, and wasted no time in climbing onto the girl's shoulder and then her head, though he started to slide down and ended up landing gently on her shoulder.
The girl squeeked as Bloo climbed on her. For a moment she was tense and afraid, but as Bloo fell onto her shoulder. She tentatively reached out and patted Bloo on the head and grinned. Her other hand held the picture, but was also clutched against her chest. "He scared me for a second, but he's kind of cute!"
"I've not been a jerk today you know," Hawke said after the girl calmed down some. Bloo apparently liked children. But that came as no surprise... He grew up with Pyrrha. And to this day she still acted like a child. Hawke thought he was more mature, though he was often childish in his own ways. He turned his attention back to the girl however. "Abby, does your chest hurt?"
"Uhuh!" she nodded happily. Despite the pain she was having fun. That was good... it made healing a lot easier. "It's been hurting since you left. But I didn't run around or anything like that this time."
"Alright," Hawke gently nudged her to the steps. The chest pain returned even though there'd been no strenuous activities. That was odd... but he was sure it was just her body reacting to being more healed than before. "Let's get you sat down and fixed up. Pyrrha, this'll probably take a few minutes. So you should probably get comfortable if you're going to stick around."

"Except that I'm not a pain in the butt you know!" Pyrrha looked cross again when Hawke addressed what she'd said to him before getting distracted. "Not if you're nice to me! But you evidently don't know how to talk to pretty girls closer to your age." she made a 'hmph' noise and crossed her arms, watching the girl and determinedly not watching Hawke for the moment. "Of course Bloo is nice. He'd never hurt a person unless they were trying to hurt me. And I'm not sure how good at it he would be, cause usually he doesn't even do that..."
Bloo was a non-combatant except for extremely rare occasions where he didn't think Pyrrha could possibly handle herself. There had been a time or two before she left the island that he'd thought she was in trouble and swiped at people, but he'd been rather young, as had she.
She finally responded to Hawke as he told her she might as well get comfortable. "Yeah okay," she nodded before sitting down against a nearby wall, cross-legged with her hands in her lap. Bloo seemed to want to stay with the girl for the moment to entertain or comfort her. The dracoknight watched Hawke work curiously, even ceasing to look so cross after a short bit. She looked down at her chocolate. Well, maybe she couldn't stay mad at him. Not everyone could be tactful and treat her like the lady she was.
"Bloo?" The girl sat down on the steps to her home and poked at the drake a little more. She didn't pull on the wings, but she did touch them as she giggled. "That sounds like a name a little kid would give a pet." Nevermind she was eight herself...
"What if she was just a little kid when she and Bloo met?" Hawke asked knowing the answer already. He knelt down in front of her and put both hands in front of her chest. After a moment of controlling his breathing, his hands glowed slightly, and water envelped most of her chest. Since Bloo was there, his claws would be touching the water too, but it warm and comforting to touch.
"It tickles!" Abby giggled and squirmed slightly as the magic was going to work. She settled down though, and looked almost as if she was being hugged. Her breathing evened out, despite looking fine before. "It always feels so much better when you do this."
"It's what I do," Hawke said smiling. Then he glanced over at Pyrrha. "In the last five generations I'm the only one in my family with this kind of magic. But you know... I don't regret it. My choice to leave home and heal people like this. Wander the land without a real home. This is why I'd rather not hurt other people. Healing them is just so much more fulfilling."
Pyrrha opened her mouth to defend Bloo's name but Hawke beat her to it, asking the girl if Pyrrha was, in fact, a little kid when she named Bloo. "I- Yeah I was smaller than you, kid." She crossed her arms. "I like Bloo's name. It fits his color." She wasn't actually mad at the little girl, and that was pretty obvious despite her objecting tone. Bloo echo'd that he liked his name too, or at least that's what Pyrrha chose to believe he was saying. It might also be this claws in the warm magical water.
Pyrrha's posture relaxed after a moment as she watched curiously (but tried not to look too curious, of course.) "My family has had Dracoknights for a lot more generations than that. I didn't actually always want to be one though... not until I met Lady Belfyire," she shrugged. "And I'll have you know it's not like I run around looking to deck people! I'm not a violent girl, you know! It's just for protection!"
"Why are you getting defensive?" Hawke asked, turning back to Abby's healing. As he focused, the water bubbled like it was boiling. But the temperature didn't change. "I didn't say you were. I was saying why I wasn't. If you were truly violent like you claim you aren't, you'd have a lot more visible bruising. And I doubt Bloo would be as relaxed as he is."
"And if you're friends with Mr Hawke, then you must be a nice person," Abby reasoned with nod. There was a genuine innocent smile on her face as she fidgeted. She didn't want to be sitting still, but Hawke's healing was apparently worth sitting through it. "Someone as nice as Mr Hawke wouldn't be friends with mean people."
"I guess what she said is true too," Hawke said in a slightly more subdued tone as embarrassment took over. The conversation made time fly, and slowly the water evaporated away. He let out a breath he seemed to have been holding as he let his arms drop to their sides. That should have been the last treatment she needed... "There... I think I'm done."
It was Pyrrha's turn to be embarrassed; a blush appeared on her cheeks as the little girl insisted that Pyrrha must be nice, and Hawke echoed that he wouldn't be friends with someone who was mean. "But we-" she cut herself off before insisting they weren't friends. The little girl didn't need to know. Plus Pyrrha wasn't entirely sure if it were accurate or not after the chocolate. She wasn't that shallow, but it did tug at just the right emotions to make her wonder if friendship was on the table for the boy who infuriated her the most often of anyone.
"Er, yeah I mean, I try to be a good girl, you know. I was raised well and had good teachers and my Mom and stuff after all." she drew her knees up to her chest and wrapped her arms around them, resting her chin on her knees. "I might not look it but where I come from I'm pretty important, so I have a lot to live up to and stuff, you know? Being a bad person would make my family look bad too. Not to mention Lady Belfyire."
"..." Hawke was silent as he stood up. He brushed himself off as his thoughts swirled around his mind. Family honor... Sometimes he wondered if it really did his family any good, his running off and all. Sure, there was all that great honor to be had in killing the enemy and reclaiming the throne... But that also made a lot of enemies. Was her family honor worth that?
"Now listen, Abby," Hawke said taking a firmer tone with her. He wasn't scolding her, but he did want her attention. He didn't want to come back to find her unable to move because breathing was hard. "I can't fix the problems you were born with. So you still have to take it easy. But you should be able to get around like before the accident."
"Okay!" Abby nodded before holding up the picture. Hawke took it and couldn't help the goofy grin on his face. It was a poorly drawn representation of him riding a shooting star with one hand in the air. He was flying over Abby and her mother in the picture, as the two were in a field of flowers. "I drew a picture of you. You're riding the shooting because you made my wish come true!"
"I'll take good care of it," Hawke promised as he was hugged. After returning the hug he gently nudged her to the door. "Go ahead and tell your mom you're fixed up. I'm going to go rest. It's been a long week."
"Okay!" She nodded and ran for the door. "Take care of your friend, Mr. Hawke!"
"I will..." He said more quietly as he sighed and rubbed the back of his head. The picture was still in his hand. He turned back to Pyrrha, shrugging helplessly. "Family honor is great and all, but don't let it get in the way of relaxing and having fun sometimes. All work and no play will make Pyrrha no fun."
"Hey, I didn't say anything about not being allowed to have fun, Dummy," Pyrrha poked Hawke on the nose, this time sounding more amused than anything else, mostly because of the child. She'd forgotten how many assumptions kids made; she had been the youngest person she regularly interacted with in her family, and probably would be until one of her brothers got married and had kids. "And yeah, you should totally take care of your friend. She's a lady after all."
Pyrrha chuckled and spun around, a grin that was a cross between impish and pleased plastered on her face. She clasped her hands behind her back and started walking away slowly. Bloo chirped a goodbye to the girl and flew to Pyrrha's shoulder, ready for wherever they were going next. Pyrrha patted his neck and scratched his chin. "A lady who's in an exceptional mood because she's had chocolate today."
"I'm just saying, I see way too many people get caught up in family honor," He replied with a helpless shrug. She was thankfully not poking fun about the picture. So he gently folded it up and slid it into one of the many pockets in his coat. He didn't need payment for this job... even if it was a week's worth of work to fix that girl up properly.
"The chocolate was taking care of her," He responded, referring to his friend as if she wasn't there jokingly. He did follow after her though, but with his hands behind his head. The carefree look made him look less like the doctor he'd been just a few minutes prior, and more like the teenage kid he was. "Though, that might be all the chocolate you get from me for awhile."
"I didn't make any money off the week I was helping that girl," Hawke shrugged helplessly, keeping his hands behind his head. "At the risk of sounding greedy... it's a bit of a problem. Being self reliant and traveling on my own has expenses I have to handle. And if I don't make money... well, I shouldn't worry about that right now. What's your plans for the rest of the day?"
"Well hey, I don't have that much money either, truth be told," Pyrrha blushed a bit, scratching her cheek. "See, I miiiiight have accidentally let some bandits take off with my money. Then I miiiight have chased them down, ended up saving someone, and then forgot about the money and let them run off with it..." She looked determinedly away from Hawke again, this time more out of embarrassment than anything.
"It wasn't like I wasn't able to take care of it... it's just that there's more pressing things than money and I can make more any time doing what wizards do and stuff, you know?" Bloo let a low growl escape his throat, though it was hard to tell if he was agreeing or scoffing.
Pyrrha chose to think he was agreeing. "Bloo and I are a great team. We've stopped several bandits from hurting good people. Oh and I helped one cranky old lady clean her house. Not my most favorite job but it least it payed... decently. I assume. It let me get these new clothes, which I kind of adore."
"I told you to be careful..." Hawke used words that would have been scolding, but his tone was weak at best. She did have a point. And he did do actual work off the boards on occasion... when he really needed the money. For people like them, money practically grew on trees. If only because they could always find some form of work. Having magic was that useful.
"But it's good that you're saving people," Hawke shrugged again. He was doing his best to make it look like they weren't a couple. If only because he was paranoid it'd cause trouble. Mostly stemming from a certain drake carrying girl taking exception to the thought. He doubted his efforts were really working though. "It takes a lot out of me to heal serious injuries. Especially one's that have had time to sit and heal funny."
"It is a cute outfit," He agreed, noting mentally that it only made things look more incriminating. He didn't even know why he was suddenly worried about it. The good mood from before must have distracted him from it or something... "Though, if you ask me... cute outfits should come after you're sure you have food and shelter. Which... I'm sure you've been smart enough to cover that."
"Of course it's a cute outfit. I'm wearing it~" Pyrrha chuckled. "I know I still look a little young for my age, but I'm totally cute so me and the cute outfit belong together. Though, obviously all the time. They'd get all ruined then, not like my robes at all." She grinned triumphantly. "Of course I got food and shelter you goof. I'm totally a responsible girl, you know. I'm staying over there!" Pyrrha pointed towards a rather large looking building - a fancy hotel more than the usual simple inns found around most place in Fiore.
"I figured I'd splurge a bit. It's nice to have a place like home sometimes," she explained as if the large temporary home wasn't a big deal. "I'm smart and resourceful. People just underestimate me all the time here. Apparently something about young women like myself not normally taking care of themselves or something. I have no idea why. Where I live us girls do the important stuff, remember."
"If you say so," Hawke couldn't help but roll his eyes at how she and the outfit belonged together because they were both cute. Why did girls have to be so insufferable at times? Cute clothes and looking pretty... What good was it at the end of the day? But, he cut himself off there. It could simply just be that he was boring in that regard. Despite how he prized his own outfit's appearance. Though he wouldn't say it out loud...
"That one...?" He was jealous. He would admit it only to himself, since her ego went through the roof at the slightest hint of stroking. And he wouldn't give her the satisfaction. So instead he shrugged and looked away from the building she'd pointed out. "Well, its good that you get to sleep comfortably. I'm happy not being so high maintenance."
"A lot of girls around your age are still in school learning less violent ways of life," Hawke elaborated with a shrug. "Many of them don't even see themselves as an adult, let alone the other adults around. Personally, if you're able to take care of yourself, you should. If not, you should still be treated like a kid. It just makes life easier on everyone that way."
