The temperature in the area had certainly dropped and he could tell it was going to start getting crazy if they just both cut loose… that was until he saw Kotone start up a dragon roar. ”Gate of Lanka I erect thee.” He said coolly as a gaping black maw opened, consuming Kotone’s dragon roar. It was a dangerous spell to use too often, but he was happy to use it in this instance.
After dispelling the gate of Lanka, he opened a second gate. Bringing forth un-rendered fat from the tortured victims of that hell and spraying it all in Kotone’s direction, Tatsu hoped to end the fight with the next couple of moves, bringing forth the powers and forces of some of the hells he had been to. The jets of boiling fat lanced toward Kotone, threatening to melt her and creating large slicks and pools of the vile substance. It was one of his least favorite to use, but it wasn’t without utility. It had also been his least favorite hell to try to escape from, not that any of them had been a walk in the park.
As memories of his time in the thousand hells hit him he considered using a legendary spell. It wasn’t exactly something he thought to do in a sparring match normally, but if anyone was going to help him work the bugs out it would be her… Even though the spell was very likely to bring a lot of attention. Still once the fat had blasted out toward her he began charging up the energy to pull it off. ”You’re welcome to give up any time!” He teased.

The Lanka Gate... whatever that was, shot out what was easily one of the more disgusting spells. Kotone's wind and ice only just barely deflected it, a very small amount dripping onto her jacket before she brushed it off with her magic. The hole in the jacket repaired itself almost instantly; she'd been given a jacket that literally fixed itself after losing three in the span of a month.
"Yeah, keep talking," Kotonefrowned. She swept her hands back, using her magic to freeze over the bubbling fat before it could deal any more damage to the property. Tatsuma was getting a little carried away; this was hardly property they could get away with tearing up. It was the government's fields they owned, not a random forest they ran into each other in.
"Time to finish this," Kotone mumbled to herself. Another wind spell and she had supercharged her own speed. Another dragon slayer spell and she'd given herself a temporary boost to her spell abilities as well, at the cost of the ability of the remaining grass to recover from the cold. She could feel the magic Tatsuma was charging. If she could avoid this, maybe she would have the opening she needed to win; attacks this strong were not without their drawbacks, after all.

Tatsuma completed his spell with a smirk as a violet bubble of electricity formed over him and a huge empty eye formed in the sky. ”Legendary Lightning Dragon Art, Raiden’s Judgement.” He spoke coolly as he disappeared, reappearing in the sky to take his place as the pupil of the spell. He closed his eyes, opening up his mind’s eye and seeing everything from the perspective of the eye in the sky. Without any further wait time the eye blinked, electrifying the entirety of the courtyard with every form of electrical energy, current fields, solid lightning construct blasts, and everything in between. As he did this and dust kicked up due mostly to all of the dead grass suddenly being reheated, the area between the pupil in which he resided and the rest of the eye dilated as he focused through the dust on Kotone and opened up another assault of lightning specifically on her location, attempting to follow her wherever it went.
He wasn’t worried about the damage that he caused to the courtyard, he could fix that, what he couldn’t fix was another loss to someone other than Kotone and she had the best capacity to be able to tell him where the weaknesses were in the spell. It wasn’t even about winning or losing against her at this point, it was all about bettering himself as a mage and taking something important from this battle. She had already given him incentive to perfect his shield spells, but this was his ace in the hole. He was almost ready now to end the spell, one final blast was set in the eye and he prepared to disappear again and reappear next to Kotone, the following blast would be a powerful electrical construct blast that would likely destroy most of the courtyard, but wouldn’t hurt Tatsu due to it being electrical energy.

"Woah." Kotone hadn't seen an attack that powerful in... well not since she'd fought the dragons. It of course came with an appropriately flashy setup, but then focuses like that often made it easier to pull off an attack without screwing it up; it was why dragon slayers started off learning to use their dragon roar with their mouths; it helped them visualize the attack and keep their energy flowing properly.
Tatsuma announced the name of his ability, moving to the sky to rain electric death upon her. He was apparently getting desperate. "Yeah, well I'm not done yet either," she announced, though Tatsuma wasn't that likely to hear him. She held her hand out to the side, gathering energy as if in a ball, her stance widening. Even as the elecrifying energy activated, she moved to intercept with her own counter-offence. "I call it the Ice Wyrm's revenge," she announced, gripping her wrist as she shoved the primary one upward towards him. Around her ice erupted in its beam form, creating a dome of protection at that angle while at the same time shoving the energy towards Tatsuma.
Or at least... that was the idea. The attack certainly helped to keep the blow from destroying anyone important (anything was another matter), but the sheer amount of magic in the area needed reacted with an absolutely explosive force, canceling each attack out where they met and causing a terrible shockwave to blast outward like a tornado. It only lasted for a brief second, and when it did, both dragon slayers were standing, though Kotone had put more energy into the attack than she liked. She was sweating, the very tips of her jacket singed. It quickly recombobulated as if it had never been hurt.
"Hey! W-we have to ask that you stop with your... your fighting on our property!" one guard who was standing about ten feet in front of about thirty more guards announced. Kotone had been right; Tatsuma had gotten majorly carried away. They'd apparently (and luckily) hidden from that final blast. Kotone wasn't even sure if she could pull it off correctly again; it was the best she'd done with it so far. Normally it caused more destruction than it was worth.
Kotone grinned, then chuckled, letting her arms fall limply to her sides. "You hear that, Lightning Bug? I warned you not to get carried away! Now they're taking away our fun!" She turned to walk back away from the field as she stuck her hands in her pockets. "Don't worry, guys, we're done," she told them with a nod. The small army of men visibly sighed with relief. "Sorry about the mess. I can ah... try and help with that if I need to," she scratched her nose with a slightly sheepish grin as she turned back to look at what she and Tatsuma had done.
The match ended a bit prematurely, but being as how neither one of them had even managed to do more than scuff each other up, though that statement was a generous enough statement as it was. Still, he hadn’t really worried about the damage that he had caused. He was already sweating and panting. He had used a fairly large amount of mana and he hadn’t learned about any flaws of his spell to boot. At the very least it was overpowering, but he also hadn’t gotten to complete the spell, choosing instead to end it prematurely. As he thought that over he realized the flaw; if forced to end the spell early instead of completing it, he wouldn’t be able to reap the benefits of it and that meant he needed to work more on the targeting and execution. ”I was wondering when that was going to happen.” He said with a sigh. Once again he activated another spell, one he had used around a dragon that he had met named Tyr. A black coating of energy enveloped their battlefield. ”I’m fixing it now, sorry about that!” He shouted after Kotone reassured them. They certainly had the ability to cause destruction, but he had intended to fix it all along. Unfortunately, it was going to take a while. ”That was probably our best fight yet. A tie isn’t a bad way to close a streak. If you want to help me clean up you can keep me company while I repair this place. I need the practice multitasking anyway.”

Within a few minutes, the two dragon slayers had assured the guards that their game was done, and they went back to whatever it was they were doing. The fact taht Tatsuma could apparently fix the grounds was rather useful for making everyone feel better about the entire ordeal. Kotone crossed her arms and shook her head, glancing back at Tatsuma as he asked her to stick around and keep him company.
"So you just clean up, and my price is spending time talking to you," she said it as if it were a punishment, though it wasn't really true. few years back, Kotone would have felt awkward enough around him after the whole ordeal with their last fight that she wouldn't have enjoyed it. In fact, she remembered disliking their last interaction before he'd bit the dust against the Shadow Lord. "You really know how to torture a girl, you know that?"
Kotone rolled her eyes, a small grin appearing on her face despite the fact that she kept the impatient posture. "So after I kicked your butt so hard with some of your trick tactics last time you're happy just to be able to hold your own against the great Ice Dragon, herself?" she teased. It was a new nickname she hadn't picked for herself. It was something the citizens had taken to calling her, seeing as how her ferocity was equal to that of a dragon, apparently. She thought it was weird, considering there was an actual ice dragon out there somewhere.
Tatsuma concentrated heavily on his healing spell acknowledging the fight in the first place, but wondering what more he should have done. There was a void gate that could have been opened but unless Kotone had already been noticeably stronger than him it wouldn’t have done any good to drag her in there.
”You’re still tooting your own horn I see.” He taunted back. She might have won a nickname from the battle with all the dragons, but no one these days knew what had transpired between Rhidran and himself. He was left wondering what he might have gotten from actually striking her down the way everyone else seemed to be attempting to do.
”What exactly happened with all the dragons anyway. I remember Raven throwing down with one, and I think I remember you throwing down with one as well, but I’m not sure exactly what the deal is. I’ve even been talking to a dragon now, but she doesn’t seem to know anything about Rhidran, Draco, or any of the others.” He confessed. He didn’t tell Kotone about how he was planning to try to tack down all the dragon lairs and find Rhidran’s, but he was fairly certain that the whole ordeal would end up getting noticed by someone half way through it.

Kotone enjoyed a little bragging, more for taunting other people than her own benefit at this point. She didn't actually usually go by her nickname, though it seemed fun to use to poke at Tatsuma with. He kind of deserved it after their odd past. "Raven killed Drago to stop the mind controlled dragon from destroying Era," she corrected. "I managed to subdue the couple I fought with a little help from some books Kade's dragon had hidden away." She tapped near her eyes as if to remind him that they used to be a less magical blue color. "The poor book got destroyed though," she sighed. She felt bad for that part; knowledge was extremely important to the light dragon and his slayer. "Last I knew you dealt with Rhidran the best you could, and I didn't have to deal with any of the others because by then the others had destroyed the dragon mind control device."
She wasn't sure why he was saying he wasn't sure what happened, other than to get her side of the story out. They'd all been rather busy at the time, after all. Tatsuma had had a history of making secret plans and executing them either on his own or with a few people. It was just his style. Kotone knew Krendall and the others had gone somewhere else until the humans were ready for them to return peacefully, out of a desire not to destroy them and all. Or get destroyed, for that matter. The fact that they'd gotten to talk after everything was said and done was something that had really helped Kotone finally close that chapter of feeling betrayed all the time in her life.
Kotone had managed to subdue dragons? Well that certainly put her on the same scale as him as far as questionable magical capacity. Then again she had apparently used some books. When she pointed to her eyes he noticed for the first time that they had changed and he wondered what exactly had gone down.
”That sounds about par for the course. As for me, I used a kekkai to trap Rhidran in the void in a special part of the thousand hells where strength in reversed. There’s a hell there where the stronger you are, the weaker you are, and the weaker you are, the stronger you can become. Infants can fell gods there… or at least that’s the story, I’ve never actually seen in happen. She’s trapped and locked there in a box until I let her out. The problem arose once I took her there. She wasn’t entirely against what Nox was trying to do, she was still threatening to destroy… I’m hoping by the time I let her out she’ll have changed her mind, but I’m not sure how great that’s going to go. I’m telling you this because whatever was in those books would be super helpful for that.” He said, finally getting to the point at the end. Kotone was one of the few people that would know him well enough to know that if it came down to fighting Rhidran he was going to do it alone. ”By the way that information isn’t exactly something anyone else is acutely aware of so I’ll need you to keep it to yourself.” He added.

"Yeah yeah, one man army, I remember," Kotone waved off Tatsuma's request with a nonchalant chuckle. "I get it, you're interested in the dragons," she raised an eyebrow as she continued to grin. The old Kotone would probably be mad at him for trying to do all the things he did alone. The current one, however, was well aware that he was much stronger than he once was, and that he had probably learned from his last fatal mistakes. Or most of them anyawy. Besides, he was as hard headed as she was, and arguing would only strengthen his resolve.
"The dragons that actually got away are fine," she assured Tatsuma. "Krendall and Celtor, for example, talked to us before they left. I don't know where he went, but he assured me he'd be back soon." Soon for a dragon was... well, not necessarily soon. He'd told her though, that she would see him soon... and this time that was good enough for her.

Tatsuma thought for a minute before speaking. "You should get in touch with me if one or both of them come back. Maybe they can help me release my mother and we can go from there. It would be a shame to keep her locked away for hundreds of years." He said as his spell finished its work. Now that it was finished, the entire courtyard looked as though no one had touched it in the first place. No signs that anyone had done battle here were apparent and he had even gone so far as to repair the damage done to his clothing during the match. "However it appears we're done here. Maybe we should go get our orders and get them taken care of. I'd guess they won't have us working together now, what with the reports of the supposedly destroyed courtyard." He said with a chuckle, looking around at the very much undamaged area. At the end of the match he had used a ton of mana, but he still had plenty left to be able to work with, and Kotone seemed to be no worse for the wear. He was confident they hadn't managed to mess up their ability to do whatever they were about to have to do.

"What, you haven't gotten your orders yet?" Kotone grinned triumphantly. "Looks like someone should have been here sooner. Guess I win the small things, hm?" she couldn't help but taunt him a little. Where would she be if she wasn't just a little bit trollish to the people who drove her crazy for so long? Besides, he totally deserved it regardless. He'd nearly gotten them in trouble for their little brawl.
"At any rate, yeah, I should get started if I want to get home anytime soon," she agreed with a nod.It was going to be interesting, investigating rumors and hearsay instead of actual events. Sure, the rumors were pretty big, so she supposed her involvement wasn't completely unwarranted. Plus she trusted her perceptive abilities far more than any human, and even most dragon slayers.
The ice dragon slayer gave Tatsuma a wink. "Good luck, Tatsu," she told him sincerely. "I didn't exactly leave them in the best mood. They pulled me away a week earlier than I'd intended to come back. I'm missing out on prime Eri time, you know." She chuckled again before taking her leave. Oh yeah, he was gonna have fun in there.
